The end of 2017 saw the opening of Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, a new hyper reality experience from ILMxLAB and The VOID. Since then, locations have opened at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California, and London, England, with new locations expected to open in Los Angeles and Las Vegas later this year. The experience takes fans on an undercover mission as a rebel cell as the infiltrate the Empire, with the help of Rogue One fan favourite droid K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk).
David S. Goyer, who wrote Secrets of the Empire, and ILMxLAB Sr. Creative Producer Diana S. Williams appeared on The Star Wars Show this week to talk about what went into creating the hyper-reality experience. Goyer visited the Star Wars Show studios at the Lucasfilm headquarters where he was interviewed by host Andi Gutierrez, while Williams joined both Gutierrez and co-host Anthony Carboni at the Downtown Disney location. Goyer also confirmed that, in addition to his Secrets of the Empire work, he is still working on another, top secret project with ILMxLAB.
