Lucasfilm and ILMxLAB announced today that they will be bringing the upcoming virtual reality series Vader Immortal to Star Wars Celebration next month in Chicago. A panel previewing the new game will take place on Friday April 12 at 1:30pm on the Celebration Stage. In addition, fans will be able to check out the first episode of the series (written by David S. Goyer) at the ILMxLAB and Oculus booth on the convention show floor.
The end of 2017 saw the opening of Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, a new hyper reality experience from ILMxLAB and The VOID. Since then, locations have opened at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California, and London, England, with new locations expected to open in Los Angeles and Las Vegas later this year. The experience takes fans on an undercover mission as a rebel cell as the infiltrate the Empire, with the help of Rogue One fan favourite droid K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk).
Another location where fans can experience Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, the location based, virtual reality experience from ILMxLAB and The Void has been unveiled. Variety is reporting that a The Void Experience Center featuring Secrets of the Empire is set to open in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2018. The Void is opening two new Experience Centers next year, one in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian in Las Vegas and the other at the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California. Both new locations will feature Secrets of the Empire.
The new hyper-reality experience, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, opening in Orlando, Florida and London, England next month and Anaheim, California in January will feature a Rogue One reunion of sorts. During an interview with ILMxLAB producer Judah Graham and VFX supervisor Ben Snow on The Star Wars Show this week it was revealed that Deigo Luna and Alan Tudyk, who played Cassian Andor and K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story respectively, had reprised their roles for the experience.
Lucasfilm and Disney have released a new trailer for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, the upcoming Immersive Entertainment Experience from ILMxLABs and The VOID coming to Disney Parks this holiday season. The virtual reality (VR) experience will let fans join the Rebel Alliance on a mission as they infiltrate the Empire's facility on Mustafar to steal top secret intelligence. Lucasfilm and the ILMxLAB have announced a new hyper-reality experience that will debut at Downtown Disney in California and Disney Springsin Florida this holiday season. The experience, titled Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, was developed by ILMxLAB in collaboration with THE VOID, a company that specializes in combining VR head set experiences with real locations. THE VOID has previously worked on the Ghostbusters: Dimensions experience, which was met with positive reviews.
Last year during Star Wars Celebration Europe, Lucasfilm announced a new Star Wars Virtual Reality project, written by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins) and developed by the ILMxLAB. The project was described as being several years away at the time, and we haven't heard anything more about it since. Yesterday, when ILMxLAB took the stage at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to show off the virtual reality on the new iMac. During the presentation, ILM chief John Knoll appeared to show off new content from the upcoming project.
The brilliant minds at Lucasfilm and the ILMxLAB have been working very hard recently to find new ways to integrate virtual reality into various aspects of the Star Wars saga. One of the newest implementations of VR, which comes to us courtesy of People magazine, takes us behind the scenes of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in an unbelievable way.
Last week it was teased that the ILMxLab had created a brand new 360 virtual reality experience. Titled "Rogue One: Recon", the experience puts you in the position of a rebel pilot in a confrontation with the Empire that ties into the film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The annual video game convention E3 takes place this week in Los Angeles and in advance of the convention, all the major companies having been making reveals about what fans can expect from them in the future. We got a general update on Star Wars video gaming from Electronic Arts, and today we got an exciting announcement from Sony regarding an upcoming Star Wars virtual reality experience. During their presentation, Sony debuted a preview for a new addition coming to Star Wars Battlefront, the "X-wing VR Mission". The mission will allow you to fly an X-Wing and do battle against TIE Fighters using Sony's upcoming Play Station VR headset. Check out the preview below,
No word yet on when this will be available, though the PlayStation VR doesn't launch until October of this year so don't expect it before then. E3 attendees will have the opportunity to try out the demo of the X-Wing VR Mission when the show kicks off this week.
Earlier this year it was announced that ILMxLAB has been working on a Star Wars virtual reality experiment titled "Trails On Tatooine". No details where initially revealed about when and how fans would be able to participate in the program. but today Lucasfilm has announced the experience's first major outing. Attendees of Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 in London will be among the first to play Trails On Tatooine, which puts you in the role of a Jedi Padawan who is sent to the desert planet to rendezvous with the Millennium Falcon. ILMxLAB will be on the convention floor with a room-scale VR installation which will utilize the HTC Vive.

Some key creators behind the experience will also be participating in a special panel during the convention which will provide a deeper look into the creation of Trails On Tatooine.
