Now that the new trailer for the first season of The Mandalorian is available, we finally have some our first look at some of the new characters we'll be meeting in the series. One of those is the character played by Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Giancarlo Esposito, who Entertainment Weekly revealed is named Moff Gideon. Esposito discussed the character in a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada at D23 Expo, sharing some details on what it's like to be an Imperial Moff in a post-Empire galaxy. Other details about the characters of The Mandalorian that were revealed by EW include that Pedro Pascal's character, the titular Mandalorian, actually has a real name, and that IG-11 (voiced by Taika Waititi) is often mistake for the other famous bounty hunter IG-88 (seen in The Empire Strikes Back and who many fans, myself included, thought the character in the series would be).
The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic.
