Star Wars Celebration kicked off this weekend with big panel celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope in 1977.  The panel featured many big names from Star Wars' illustrious cinematic history, including Harrison Ford, Ian McDiarmid, Mark Hamill, Hayden Christensen, and Star Wars creator George Lucas, as well as a performance of fan favourites from the Star Wars soundtrack performed live with legendary composer John Williams as conductor.

While the panel was joyous celebration of the legacy of Star Wars, it had a tinge of sadness as the participants also paid tribute to their late colleague Carrie Fisher, who passed away late last year.  The tributes included a video package, speeches by George Lucas and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, a performance of Leia's theme, and, Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd talking about her mother.

You can watch video package below,

You can see Lucas, Kennedy, and Lourd's speeches, as well as Williams' performance in the video below,

Hats off to Lucasfilm for managing to put on a touching and fitting tribute to the late Carrie Fisher. Hopefully they will see fit to release the entire panel online so fans can experience the whole celebration of 40 years of our favourite series.
