Carrie Fisher's Brother Says Leia Will Be In 'Episode IX'

Following the tragic death of Carrie Fisher late last year, the question on everyone's mind is how will her death effect the future Star Wars films.  Fisher's scenes for Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi were completed prior to her death and, according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, they won't be changing Leia's role in the film to reflect Fisher's passing.  However, this leaves open the issue of what will do about Star Wars Episode IX, due for release in 2019.  Lucasfilm issued a statement recently revealing they had "no plans" to recreate Fisher using CGI in future films, leading many to speculate she would be written out of the story and the character would not appear in Episode IX.

People Magazine Releases New Images of Billie Lourd from 'The Force Awakens'

People Magazine has released two new images of Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd in costume as her unknown character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Check them out below,

People also spoke with Lourd about Star Wars for their special Star Wars issue which hits newsstand today,

Billie Lourd has said she's not playing Princess Leia's daughter in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, even though she's the real-life daughter of Carrie Fisher.

But as PEOPLE's exclusive first look at her top-secret character reveals, she has at least inherited Leia's hairdo!

In PEOPLE's special Star Wars collector's edition, on newsstands today, Lourd reveals she had an obsession with the original movie when she was growing up.

"I made [my mom] watch it at least once a week – and on special occasions I would make her get in a lightsaber fight with me," Lourd, 23, says. "Let's just say the more trained Jedi usually won."

Lourd's destiny at first seemed to take a different path from her mom and dad's (her father is CAA superagent Bryan Lourd). At 19, she was studying religion and psychology at New York University. At that age, her mom started production on the original movie as the now-iconic Princess Leia, up to her hair buns in a galactic war.

But after graduating from NYU last year, Lourd has reclaimed her destiny; her family is strong in the ways of Hollywood, after all.

She costars on the Fox TV show Scream Queens. While the name of her The Force Awakens character still hasn't been revealed, Lourd says her mom's portrayal of Leia has long been an inspiration for her.

"When I saw the [original] movie for the first time, I noticed my mom was not only equally as confident and strong as the men, she was one of the most confident characters in the entire film," Lourd says. "It made me realize women are just as powerful as men and that we can truly do anything they can – if not more!"

It's fun to see Lourd talking about her mother and her role in the film.  We still don't know who she is playing in the film, though she can be spotted in the Resistance Base, with her mother, in a few TV spots.

New Image of Billie Lourd in 'The Force Awakens'

We've known for a while now that Carrie Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd (Scream Queens) would be appearing in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, and eagle eyed viewers were able to spot her in a recent TV spot, but we've never gotten a good look at her character.  Until now.  Our pals over at MakingStarWars.net came across a Tweet from Twitter user @SGaviri who got their hands on a magazine featuring an image of Lourd's character standing next to the droid PZ-4CO in a Resistance war room.  Check it out below,
This appears to be the same location you can see Lourd in in the TV spot (at around 0:47) below,

I don't expect Lourd to have a large role, but it's still nice to see Star Wars staying in the family for Carrie and Billie.

Billie Lourd Confirms She Will Not Play a Young Princess Leia in 'The Force Awakens'

By: Dominic Jones

We've known for a while now that Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd would be appearing in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.  Who she is playing is still yet to be confirmed, and rumors had her playing a young Princess Leia in flashback scenes.  Lourd, who is currently promoting her upcoming role in the film Scream Queens, revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she while she is in the film, she is not playing a young version of the character her mother made famous back in 1977.  Lourd said, "That’s a lie. That’s a rumor. I wish I played a young Princess Leia. Disney, I’m available."

You can see Lourd's response in the video below (at around 1:29)

This is one of the longer standing rumors to debunked.  The rumor can be traced back to late June of 2014 when it was first reported that Lourd would be in the film and then a few days later the Young Princess Leia rumors started.  Now the question is, who is Billie Lourd playing in The Force Awakens?  We'll likely get our answer on December 18th, 2015.

Debbie Reynolds Confirms Bille Lourd's Appearance in 'The Force Awakens'

We've been hearing for a while that Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd will be appearing in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.  Now it seems we have our confirmation.  Lourd's grand mother, Debbie Reynolds appeared in Las Vegas this past week and let it slip that Lourd would be appearing in the film.  According to Vegas Seven, "Debbie mentioned that Carrie and Billie had been working on Star Wars: Episode VII–The Force Awakens with “Harrison Ford… and the other boychik.”

There you have it.  That's probably as close to a confirmation about Lourd's involvement in The Force Awakens.  It's nice to see that Star Wars is a family thing for the cast, as well as the fans!
