Thrawn and Jaina Solo Black Series Figures Revealed at #SWCO

2 comments
A Jaina Solo action figure has finally come to Hasbro's Black Series line.

By Zac Arnold

@Zac_dfw

Over the course of the weekend, several new Hasbro Black Series figures were revealed at Star Wars Celebration Orlando.

Rey's speeder and a Tatooine Luke Skywalker (complete with floppy hat) were the highlights among others, but two that drew excitement late in the week were Thrawn and Jaina Solo. Both got their starts as members of what's now known as the Legends canon, with Thrawn only recently becoming canon during season 3 of Star Wars Rebels.

Thrawn's 6-inch Black Series figure will release immediately for $19.99 USD, but will also feature a San Diego Comic Con exclusive, loaded with visual appeal.

Jaina Solo, one of the twins born to Han and Leia in the Legends canon, was the winner of the 2016 fan vote and will feature her in her pilot's suit with the iconic purple lightsaber that helped make her the "Sword of the Jedi."

The Jaina Solo Black Series figure will also be selling for $19.99 USD. Both Jaina and Thrawn's figures are expected to be available fall of 2017.

For a complete list and slideshow of the figures revealed by Hasbro during #SWCO visit the article posted by starwars.com.

Kennedy Comments on Future of the Saga

Shortly after the trailer for The Last Jedi was revealed at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, questions about the future of Star Wars began to rise again.

Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, had high praise for TLJ director Rian Johnson, and how he is helping progress the franchise. "I love his talent [and] commitment to these stories, and his understanding of the mythology George created," Kennedy said during an interview folowing the trailer's reveal. "It's really something that I think you'll see that he takes the characters [and] develops their complexities. He's not afraid to try things that move us into a more complex universe, and I think that's great."

This commentary should be encouraging for fans who felt The Force Awakens was too shallow and the new characters needed depth. For the fans concerned about Star Wars as a whole and where it intends to go after Episode IX, the questions still abound.

Kennedy noted that the intent is to create more movies after the sequel to The Last Jedi, but was not committal on that those movies could look like. "George always intended nine movies," Kennedy said. "And whether we continue that or not is something we're talking about right now. If the story warrants it, we'll absolutely do it."

When asked whether she had a timetable regarding an announcement over such a monumental decision, Kennedy said: "Certainly by next year."

Do you think the story of the Skywalker family should be the focal point after nine episodes? Or do movies like Rogue One and the Han Solo film give rise to a new Star Wars storytelling method? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

With just over ten days left until the launch of Star Wars Celebration Orlando, we've been getting a ton of guest announcements recently. In fact, one guest in particular that was just revealed is quite a shocking one!

This announcement is a pleasant surprise for fans considering Hayden has not appeared at a Celebration since Star Wars Celebration II in 2002 to promote Episode II: Attack Of The Clones.
