Even though we're still several months away from seeing The Force Awakens on the big screen, a completed version of the film is actually closer than we think. Back at San Diego Comic Con director J.J. Abrams confirmed that a cut of the film had been completed. Now it appears that a select few are already getting a chance to see an early version of the film, and one of those people is Disney CEO Bob Iger. Yesterday Iger spoke with CNBC about various topics related to the Walt Disney company, and of course, Star Wars came up in the conversation. Upon being prodded by the hosts about Saga, Iger admitted that he's seen a rough cut of the film:
"I've seen the film without most of its special effects and without most of its music... I can't wait for the world to see it."
Iger was also asked about the merchandising the accompanies The Force Awakens:
"The consumer products business that we have, which is truly global, has become a very big business for us, and it is a big part of Star Wars. One of the reasons that we were interested in it is it had the profile of many other Disney businesses, and Marvel for instance. Consumers products are important, but the movie has to be good too. It's probably the most important, it starts with the movie."
