One of the most exciting aspects of the next Star Wars film is the fact that the legendary John Williams, who scored the six original films, along with numerous others, will be returning to score the music for The Force Awakens! Recent rumors suggested that Williams would be returning to the London Symphony Orchestra, but StarWars.com has now confirmed that Williams will be scoring the film with members of the superb freelance orchestra in Los Angeles, California. Episode VII's soundtrack will be the first Star Wars film score recorded in the United States. All previous scores were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England. The music for The Force Awakens will be recorded over a several month period while working alongside nearby editors and special effects artists nearby.
On the news, John Williams himself commented. “I’ve had the privilege of working with the very best musicians in both the U.K. and the U.S. The London Symphony Orchestra has consistently performed with great artistry on all six of the prior films in the Star Wars saga, and I will be forever grateful for their commitment and dedication. Equally, it has been my honor to have worked with my brilliant colleagues in Los Angeles, and always appreciate the invaluable contribution they’ve made to my scores and to those of other composers.”
We'll all be able to hear the score in all it's glory when The Force Awakens opens in theaters December 18th, 2015!
