Hot Toys Unveils 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Darth Maul Figure

By: Benjamin Hart

Easily one of the biggest surprises to come out of Solo: A Star Wars Story was the shocking cameo by Darth Maul near the end of the film. The Zabrak Sith Lord was presumed dead over 20 years ago when he was cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. His subsequent appearances in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels confirmed otherwise, and Solo doubled down on Maul's extended life expectancy.

Ron Howard Comments On "Solo's" Disappointing Box Office Performance

By: Dominic Jones

It's been just over a year since Solo: A Star Wars Story was first released in theaters and while fans are pushing for the film to get a sequel, the film's box office performance makes that unlikely.  Despite being the 12th highest grossing film of 2018 (domestically), and grossing $392 million worldwide, the film failed to cover its production and marketing cost (which were inflated due to the film's troubled production) and is the lowest gross live action Star Wars movie.

Peter Serafinowicz Reveals He Originally Recorded Maul's Lines For 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'

Perhaps the biggest surprise at the end of last year's Solo: A Star Wars Story was the return of Darth Maul to the big screen at the end.  The scene featured Ray Park reprising his role as the physical presence of Maul from The Phantom Menace, along with the voice of Sam Witwer who voiced Maul on the animated series' Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels (where Maul's resurrection and ultimate fate were first revealed).  However, Witwer voicing the character wasn't always the plan for the film.

Pilot. Smuggler. General. Doer of the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs (if you round down). Academy Award nominee. These are just some of the titles that could now, at least tenuously, be applied to Han Solo.  The last on that list is the latest accolade to bestowed upon the character after today's announcement that Solo: A Star Wars Story was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.  Also nominated in that category were Avengers: Infinity War, Christopher Robin, First Man, and Ready Player One.

Ron Howard Interested In Directing Another Star Wars Film

By: Benjamin Hart

Despite being another excellent installment in the Star Wars saga, Solo: A Star Wars Story endured more than its fair share of problems, including a major director change during production, as well as a lackluster box office run. But despite all of that, it seems the director who was at the center of it all, Ron Howard, isn't afraid to step back into the director's chair.

By: Benjamin Hart

Solo: A Star Wars Story is now finally out on home video! To celebrate the occasion, ABC News has released a short featurette focusing on one of the biggest elements in Solo's most anticipated action set piece: the Kessel Run.

Clayton Sandell from ABC visited Lucasfilm headquarters in San Francisco and spoke with various Industrial Light and Magic crew members, including visual effects supervisor Rob Bredow. Sandell specifically inquired about the summa-verminoth, the gigantic, tentacled space monster that attacks the Millennium Falcon during the Kessel Run sequence. They go into detail, revealing that the idea behind the inclusion of the creature came from director Ron Howard. They also touch on the beast's very graphic death inside the Maw. You can watch the full video below:

'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Gets The "Honest Trailers" And "How It Should Have Ended" Treatments

With Solo: A Star Wars Story now being available on blu-ray and as a digital download, the usual internet parody-writers have set their sights on the film.  Today, both "Honest Trailers" and "How It Should Have Ended" released their videos poking fun at the most recent Star Wars film.  Each take shots at the obvious targets (lack of box office success, director's change, etc.), but also manage to find some different ways to elicit laughs (such as a "This Is America" parody, called "This Is The Falcon" in the HISHE video).  You can see both of them below,
