Report: 'Star Wars Rebels' Seasons 1 & 2 Soundtrack On The Way

By: Benjamin Hart

While there's a lot to enjoy visually in Star Wars Rebels, there's also plenty to hear. Composer Kevin Kiner has done a stellar job with the music of Rebels, paying homage to the classic themes of John Williams while introducing brand new scores for the show. Now it appears that the Rebels tunes will soon be available to enjoy on their own in soundtrack form. Wondercon is happening now in Los Angeles and Amy Ratcliffe tweeted on Friday that Kiner confirmed the soundtrack is coming on a panel:

Kevin Kiner also composed the music for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and for years fans lobbied for a soundtrack to be released, and it ultimately came after the series ended. It's awesome to see Lucasfilm is now ahead of the game with this soundtrack. Of course, we will provide updates on this story in the future as release dates and such are revealed. In the meantime, if you would like to enjoy to some Rebels music right now, Kiner previously made a collection of tracks available to listen on his website.

By: Benjamin Hart

When it comes to iconic musical scores, no one can beat the legendary John Williams who has scored every live action Star Wars film thus far, along with many other blockbusters. But one composer who's proven his ability to emulate Williams' work in the animated portion of the Star Wars Saga is none other than Kevin Kiner. Kiner scored the music for six-plus seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has now moved on to the newest Star Wars animated series, Star Wars Rebels. For years fans clamored for The Clone Wars soundtrack to be released in full, and last year it was. Now Kevin Kiner has released his music for Rebels on his site.  From "22 Pickup" from Spark Of Rebellion to "Alliance" from Fire Across The Galaxy, it's a great collection of track, twenty one in total.

Head over to Kevin Kiner's site now to star listening!

'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Seasons 1-6 Soundtrack Available for Pre-Order (Updated!)

By: Dominic Jones

UPDATE: The release has finally been confirmed via official channels!  Walt Disney Records posted the link to the pre-order today on Facebook saying, "Star Wars episode VII is all we can think about so we’re glad to finally have Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV soundtrack available to get us through in the mean time!"

Original Story:
It's been a long time coming but it seems that Lucasfilm is finally releasing a soundtrack for the Emmy award winning animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  The music for the series was composed by Kevin Kiner, who has since moved on to working on Star Wars Rebels.  The soundtrack album is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon Prime Music now and is slated for a November 10th release.

The track list seems to contains music from all the seasons, though there does seem to be a bit of an emphasis on the later seasons (not that I'm complaining those are some of my favorite episodes and some of my favorite music!)  And, for those of you wondering, yes these are all different tracks from what Kiner released (for free) on his website earlier in the year.  No word yet on that vinyl release, though...

Report: 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Season One Soundtrack Coming Soon...to Vinyl?

By: Dominic Jones

Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars have been hopping for a soundtrack release of some of the phenomenal music composer Kevin Kiner created for the series.  Now it seems we may have gotten our wish, in a way that I don't think anyone was expecting.  Our friends over at Jedi News have spotted a new posting on BestBuy.com for "Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season One-Original Soundtrack-VINYL".  That's right, it seems, that Lucasfilm will be releasing the soundtrack for the first season on vinyl.  No word on if this will be seeing a release in a medium from the 21st Century, like CD or digital or if the soundtrack for other seasons will be released.

I must say, assuming this is true, this is an unexpected move for Disney/Lucasfilm.  We had heard that a soundtrack for the series would be coming, but I didn't see the vinyl thing coming.  Although, to be fair, vinyl is making a comeback in certain (more hipster-esque) circles.  I would love to see complete soundtracks for each of the seasons released in any format.  Kiner did release over 50 tracks from the series on his website (for free) earlier this year.  No word on if there would be any difference between what was released on Kiner's website and a physical soundtrack release.

Kevin Kiner Performs 'Rebels' Theme With Live Orchestra

By: Benjamin Hart

Aside from composing music for many TV series like CSI: Miami and Hell On Wheels, Kevin Kiner is well know to Star Wars fans as the man behind the music of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The award winning composer appeared at Playfest in Málaga, Spain and conducted an orchestra to play the main theme for Rebels for the live audience. A YouTuber named Kite Kunisaki shared a video of the performance, which you can watch below:

I have to say, the more I hear this tune, the more I like it. (So much so that it's even my Phone ringtone.) Hearing it performed live is a real treat. Tune into Disney Channel on Friday, October 3rd to hear the theme and watch the series when it premieres it's first hour long episode!

Kevin Kiner: Clone Wars Seasons 1-6 CD Soundtrack Coming

By Chris Seekell

Today Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels composer Kevin Kiner sat down for an interview with the hosts of the Everything Geek Podcast. In the interview he talked about his time on Clone Wars and what we can expect to hear in the Rebels soundtrack. He also revealed that Lucasfilm is working on releasing a full CD soundtrack for the entire Clone Wars series.

"We are just compiling a CD of Clone Wars Seasons 1-6."

Kevin went on to describe the differences between his compositions for Clone Wars and Rebels.

"[Rebels] is a cool reboot. I'm sure if you have seen any interviews with Dave Filoni or even myself, Dave's really talking about going back to A New Hope, going back to the adventure, serialized feel that the first film had. The musical sensibility is a lot closer to what John [Williams] did for that film specifically, A New Hope, than what we were doing on Clone Wars."

You can listen to the full interview here.

Opinion: Why Kevin Kiner is the Perfect Choice to Score 'Star Wars Rebels'

By: Ciaran Duggan

This past weekend at Wondercon (in Anaheim, California), executive producer Dave Filoni officially announced Kevin Kiner as the composer and scorer of the new Star WarsTV show: Star Wars Rebels.  Furthermore, the Kiner’s Rebels theme tune was played to the Wondercon audience at the “Behind the Scenes of Star Wars Rebels” panel.  The score was a vivid resemblance to John Williams’ force theme and the show’s primary themes will assimilate antecedent William’s scores from Star Wars: A New Hope, delineating an old trilogy ubiquitous to the television show.

The announcement is certainly a welcome one. Kevin Kiner deserves the opportunity to score another Star Wars television show following his vivid achievements in prior television shows, such as CSI Miami, Bond: Goldeneye 007, but most notably his composition on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which he produced wonderful and fantastic themes on the Star Wars series.  The brilliant scores included a proliferation of orchestral instruments (namely Anakin wants her Alive, Battle of Christophsis and Slick Captured), along with electronic and rock instrumentals such as Ashoka is Captured and Coruscant Runner.  These soundtracks, undoubtedly, consist of Kiner’s own magical audio touch, yet there are also vivid echoes to John William’s foregoing scores which should enable fans to perpetuate confidence in Kevin Kiner’s role on Rebels, fundamentally illustrated already in the score for the Star Wars: Rebels main theme.

In short summary, the declaration from the Rebels team about Kiner’s appointment will be met with praise from many quarters across Star Wars fandom.  The agglomerate team is certainly shaping up to emulate a resembling cast to the popular Clone Wars series and therefore this announcement amalgamated with the new space battle clip released from Wondercon (stunningly animated it must be said) will certainly enhanced expectations and interest for the show. Rebels is certainly shaping up to be a fantastic series.

By: Benjamin Hart

This just in from WonderCon in Anaheim, California: Kevin Kiner, who composed music for all six seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has been officially confirmed to be scoring Star Wars Rebels! Kiner himself appeared at the "Behind the scenes of Star Wars Rebels" panel saying that he is "privileged to be part of the greatest myth of the 20th & 21st centuries." Also at the panel, Kiner's main theme for Rebels was played, which was described by attendees as including pieces of the Rebels theme from Return Of The Jedi and The Force theme mixed together. Kevin Kiner commented that The Force Theme was John Williams' "home run." The musical theme for the series overall is said to invoke an A New Hope feel.

Check out the video announcing Kiner's return below,
