Lucasfilm is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Emmy-award winning animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars at San Diego Comic Con this year. On Thursday July 19th at 11:45am in Room 6BCF an hour-long panel featuring members of the cast and crew will look back on the history of the series will take place. The panel will be hosted by Nerdist's Amy Ratcliffe, and will feature supervising director Dave Filoni, producer Athena Portillo, composer Kevin Kiner, and stars Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker). The panel was announced two weeks ago, and the panelists were revealed on this week's episode of The Star Wars Show, which you can watch below,
The panel sounds like it will be a can't miss event for fans of The Clone Wars attending Comic Con this year!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was the last major Star Wars project to feature direct involvement from Star Wars
creator George Lucas. Lucas would come up with the stories for the
series, and then work Filoni and his team of writers, directors, and
animators to realize those stories. The series introduced many
characters who would go on to become classics, including Ahsoka Tano and
Captain Rex. Many characters from The Clone Wars went on to appear in the follow-up animated series Star Wars Rebels.
The series' impact can also be felt in significant was in the new films as well. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Forest Whittaker played Saw Gerrera, a character who first appeared in a season five arc of The Clone Wars. The series' impact can also be felt on Solo: A Star Wars Story, as The Clone Wars was the first canon Star Wars project to resurrect Darth Maul after his defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace. Sam Witwer, who voiced Maul in The Clone Wars, also voiced him Solo.
