Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars have been hopping for a soundtrack release of some of the phenomenal music composer Kevin Kiner created for the series. Now it seems we may have gotten our wish, in a way that I don't think anyone was expecting. Our friends over at Jedi News have spotted a new posting on BestBuy.com for "Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season One-Original Soundtrack-VINYL". That's right, it seems, that Lucasfilm will be releasing the soundtrack for the first season on vinyl. No word on if this will be seeing a release in a medium from the 21st Century, like CD or digital or if the soundtrack for other seasons will be released.
I must say, assuming this is true, this is an unexpected move for Disney/Lucasfilm. We had heard that a soundtrack for the series would be coming, but I didn't see the vinyl thing coming. Although, to be fair, vinyl is making a comeback in certain (more hipster-esque) circles. I would love to see complete soundtracks for each of the seasons released in any format. Kiner did release over 50 tracks from the series on his website (for free) earlier this year. No word on if there would be any difference between what was released on Kiner's website and a physical soundtrack release.
