Lucasfilm Launches New Fan-Centric Web Series 'Our Star Wars Stories'

Arguably one of the greatest aspects of Star Wars it its fans. Star Wars fans are some of the most kindhearted, creative and positive people in any galaxy, and they continue to prove it in many ways. Lucasfilm has now taken to the task of bringing a spotlight to these fans through a new web series that was just launched today.

"Our Star Wars Stories" is a new series that's been revealed on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, hosted by Jordan Hembrough. Yesterday a trailer was dropped featuring many familiar faces, including our friends, the Perales family, also known as The Rogue Rebels:

The Many Cinematic References & Homages Hidden Within 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'

Solo: A Star Wars Story is now fully out on home video, which means we are now able analyze (and over-analyze) the film further with unlimited repeat viewings. As of recently, many have pointed out the vast amount of inspirations Solo took from various cinematic classics, including some previous Star Wars films. Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan touched on several of the film's very intentional references to other films in a recent Twitter thread, and now a few fans have also got in on the discussion.

Kelly Marie Tran has been in the news a lot these past few months after the actress, who portrays Rose Tico in the Sequel Trilogy, was forced to leave Instagram after being attacked by bigoted trolls. Thankfully things have been looking up recently as the Star Wars fan community has rallied around the actress in support. Kelly Marie Tran Speaks Out About Online Harassment In Powerful Editorial

Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran has broken her silence over the online harassment she received following the film's release, which resulted in her deleting her Instagram account back in June.  The actress, who will reprise her role as Rose next year in Star Wars Episode IX, had not spoken publicly about the events that led her to this decision.  Until now.  This morning The New York Times published a lengthy editorial titled "I Won’t Be Marginalized by Online Harassment" by Tran where she addressed what happened.  We've highlighted some key sections below.

Stephen Colbert Shows His Support For Kelly Marie Tran With 'Episode IX' Parody Trailer

Late last week, Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) deleted her Instagram account after months of harassment from racists and misogynists who are using Star Wars as an excuse to harass people.  The following days have seen a wave of people coming out in support of Tran and to condemn these so-called "fans" who think what they are doing is even remotely acceptable.  One of the highest profile people to do so is The Late Show host Stephen Colbert, who addressed the news in one of his monologues and then shared a parody trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: Shut The Hell Up You Broken Hateful Dweebs.  Check it out below,

'Looking For Leia' Documentary is Seeking Crowd Funding on Kickstarter

The impact Princess Leia had on popular culture and culture in general when Star Wars was first released back in 1977 is something that we are still seeing today.  Filmmaker Annalise Ophelian recognizes this and set out to document it in a new documentary film, titled Looking For Leia.  The first portion of the film was shot at Star Wars Celebration Orlando back in April and shines the spotlight on female Star Wars fans and the impact Leia (and other female characters) have had on the world.  You can see the trailer for the film below,

501st Russian Outpost Sent Their Patch Into Space

Star Wars fans are always finding new and exciting ways to celebrate and express their fandom.  For fans in the 501st Legion this includes building screen accurate costumes and wearing them to charitable events.  Fans in the Russian Outpost of the 501st Legion went a step further and sent one of their patches up to the International Space Station with Cosmonaught Andrei Borisenko and kept it with him for the entirety of his 173 day mission.

Tribute to Carrie Fisher at Emerald City Comic Con

Star Wars fans, and pop culture lovers of the loss of Carrie Fisher late last year and there have been many tributes.  From awards shows to unique fan tributes, the world has shared its love for the late Princess Leia actress.  The latest touching tribute to Fisher took place at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, Washington this past weekend where organizers set up a massive chalkboard for fans to sign and share their love for Fisher.

Northern Ireland Hosts Star Wars Convention

Last weekend fans in Northern Ireland were treated to a Star Wars film convention at the Eikon Complex in Co Antrim.

Thousands of fans visited the convention over the course of the weekend.

Fans were able to see life-sized replica props, along with sets and iconic characters - such as stormtroopers and Darth Vader on the set.

Oakland A's Pitcher Sean Doolittle Used 'Star Wars' to Propose to his Girlfriend

While there are some out there that like to see a divide between sports fans and Star Wars, there's a lot more crossover between the two groups than some would care to admit.  Case and point, Oakland A's relief pitcher Sean Doolittle.  Doolittle is a massive Star Wars fan, frequently posting about it on social media and even reviewing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for MLB.com.  Doolittle managed to bring his Star Wars passion into a life changing moment, when he proposed to his girlfriend Eireann Dolan.  Dolan frequently features in Doolittle's Star Wars posts "tolerating" (her words) his fandom.

Star Wars Fan In Court Following Alleged Attack After 'Rogue One' Screening

A Star Wars fan in the UK has reportedly assaulted another man outside a cinema after watching 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'.

The incident allegedly took place outside the first night showing of Rogue One at Vue Cinema in the capital city of Wales, Cardiff, in the early hours of December 16 last year.

The defendant pleaded 'not guilty' to charges of assault by 'beating and assault with intent to commit robbery'.
