Hayden Christensen Shares Advice With Kelly Marie Tran On Dealing With Toxic Fans

Kelly Marie Tran has been in the news a lot these past few months after the actress, who portrays Rose Tico in the Sequel Trilogy, was forced to leave Instagram after being attacked by bigoted trolls. Thankfully things have been looking up recently as the Star Wars fan community has rallied around the actress in support. Furthermore, earlier this week Tran herself finally spoke out on the situation in an editorial released by The New York Times.

Another Star Wars actor who can definitely empathize with Kelly Marie Tran is none other than Anakin Skywalker himself, Hayden Christensen. Over the years he has endured plenty of undue disparagement for his performance in Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith, and lately many have drawn comparisons between Tran and Christensen in regards to their treatment by fringe elements of the fan base.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, while promoting his newest film Little Italy alongside his grandmother, Hayden was asked if he had any advice for Kelly in light of the recent events. He responded:

“I don’t know if I have any advice for that, but just, you know, don’t take it too seriously, because unfortunately [bullies] are the ones that make the most noise. But the majority of the people don’t feel that way, so, keep that in mind.”

The full interview can be viewed below:

Of course, Hayden is absolutely right. The most hateful and intolerant voices are always the most vocal, but they do not represent the majority, in Star Wars fandom or otherwise. A lot of vitriol is still directed at Hayden Christensen on the Internet to this day, but that doesn't change the fact the he received a standing ovation from thousands of fans when he appeared on stage last year at Star Wars Celebration Orlando. And I'm sure Kelly Marie Tran will receive the same warm welcome when she comes to Celebration Chicago next year.
