New Image From 'The Mandalorian' Revealed By Entertainment Weekly

With The Mandalorian hitting our screens in less than two months when the new Disney+ streaming service launches, the promotional machine for the series is kicking into high gear.  Next week, Entertainment Weekly will feature a cover story about The Mandalorian, giving readers a taste of what to expect from the first season.  In addition to the cover story, EW has also been featuring teasers for the series on their website.  The latest is a new picture featuring the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and former Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune (Gina Carano) on a homestead somewhere with a new, never-before-seen character.  Check it out below,

Many have noticed that, despite the fact that Pascal is the "face" of the series, we have yet to actually see his face in any of the previews for the series.  EW writer James Hibbard addressed this in his story, while sharing a fun story about Pedro Pascal's time in the Mandalorian armor,

"Speaking of faces, don’t expect to see Pascal’s very often. The Mandalorian­ — or “Mando,” as he’s called on set — is pretty fond of keeping that helmet on. (Pascal, not so much. The actor spent a bit of time bumping into things around the set before he got the hang of it.)"

There has been some speculation about if we'll even seen Pascal's face in the first season, or if this was essentially a voice over role for him.  However, Hibbard's story about Pascal bumping into stuff while in costume seems to at least confirm that its Pascal under the helmet (and not a body or stunt double).  It's still not a confirmation that we see Pascal's face, but it's hard to imagine Disney/Lucasfilm casting an actor like him and never having him show his face on screen.

The story from EW also confirms that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi directed the season one finale.  We've known for some time that Waititi directed an episode, and it was rumored to be the finale, however it's nice to finally have confirmation of which one it is.  Waititi also spoke with EW about his character IG-11, who he voices in the series, saying, "[IG-11 is] very innocent and naive and direct and doesn’t know about sarcasm and doesn’t know how to lie. It’s like a child with a gun."

The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic.  The series debuts on Disney+ on November 12th.  If you haven't seen the new trailer, you can check it out below,
