Starting this Friday, fans will finally be able to step into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the new themed land opening at Disneyland in California. Earlier tonight, Disney held the dedication ceremony for Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and it featured several fan favorite guests from the Star Wars saga. The ceremony was hosted by Disney CEO Bob Iger, and featured appearances from Star Wars creator George Lucas, and original (and sequel) trilogy stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams.
The ceremony was live streamed on the Disneyland YouTube channel, and you can check it out below (the actual ceremony begins about 14 minutes in, though there's about 10 minutes of fun preview videos from inside Galaxy's Edge which can be seen beforehand),
"You did a great job, it could have gone very bad. But it didn't." You don't get much higher praise than that (at least not from George Lucas).
For those of you looking to attend Galaxy's Edge in the not-too-distant future you'll have to wait until after June 23rd, unless you grabbed one of the coveted reservations to go in the first three weeks. (The reservations, which were free with a Disneyland ticket, sold out in less than two hours). For everybody else, we'll have to live vicariously through the preview videos that have gone up in the past few days from reporters and bloggers who got to attend special preview days for Galaxy's Edge. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens to the public on May 31st at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. It will also open at Disney World in Orlando, Florida on August 29th.
