Video: George Lucas Visited The Set Of The Final Season Of 'Game of Thrones'

The overlap between Star Wars and Game of Thrones are many, and only growing in numbers (sort of like the soldiers in the Night King's army, amirite?), with directors and cast members having been involved in both.  This continued on the set of the final season of Thrones, when Star Wars creator George Lucas visited the set.  Lucas' visit was featured in a behind the scenes video released by HBO, where he can been seen on set and offering some "direction" to Jon Snow actor Kit Harrington.

Check out the video below,

In the video, you can see George Lucas say to Harrington, much to the delight of his co-star Emilia Clarke (who played Qi'Ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story and was also on the set of that film the day Lucas visited), "Ok that was great. No direction for you, I don't really care about you."  This bit of fun on set was the result of the episode's director David Nutter asking George to go give some direction to the actors some direction.

Also in the video, you can hear Game of Thrones executive producer David Benioff talk about how much Lucas' works mean to him.  This is especially nice to hear, given that Benioff and his co-showrunner D.B. Weiss' next project is a series of Star Wars films. Benioff said, "I mean like the first I could remember telling stories was me as a little kid like mashing together these stormtrooper dolls.  For so many of us he's the one who started our obsession with this kind of big, epic story telling".

Game of Thrones airs Sunday's at 9pm on HBO.  If you're into the show, make sure you check the podcast The Watchers of Westeros.
