Production on the final installment in the sequel trilogy is winding down. Though director JJ Abrams is still shooting Star Wars Episode IX, the film is saying goodbye to some of its stars. C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels is one person who is done filming on the upcoming film. Daniels took to Twitter to announce his final day on set and thank the director and producer. The actor tweeted,
Today was 3PO's last on Episode IX. He's sad - so am I. But we're so proud to have worked with such a lovely, talented cast & crew lead by J.J. & Kathy. I'll miss everyone but I'm glad to know that we've been making something exceptional together, to share with the waiting world.— Anthony Daniels (@ADaniels3PO) January 28, 2019
Daniels has appeared in every Star Wars film in one form or another, playing C-3PO in all nine saga films as well as Rogue One. And while 3PO didn't appear in last year's Solo: A Star Wars Story, Daniels made a fun cameo as one of the escapees from the spice mines of Kessel.
Star Wars Episode IX hit theaters on December 20th, 2019. The
film is directed by JJ Abrams, with a script by Abrams and Chris Terio.
The film stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac,
Kelly Marie Tran, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Keri Russell, Richard
E. Grant, Naomi Ackie, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Joonas
Suotamo, and Carrie Fisher.
