Jon Favreau Shares A Picture Of A Droid From The Set Of 'The Mandalorian'

Jon Favreau, writer and executive producer of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, has shared another small tease from the set of the upcoming Disney+ streaming series.  Favreau posted a picture of a droid on the set on his Instagram today.  The picture had no caption, though the droid in the picture looks similar to (though is almost certainly not) R5-D4, the droid that Uncle Owen would have bought instead of R2-D2 in A New Hope if it hadn't had a bad motivator.  Check out the picture below,

Favreau's social media teases for the series are always fun (and are the sort of thing we'd love to see from all Star Wars filmmakers, *cough* JJ Abrams *cough*).  They're the perfect quick glimpse behind the scenes that gets fans excited for whats to come, without revealing anything major about the story of the series.

For fans wondering when we'll get our first look at The Mandalorian, April seems like the month to circle on you calendars.  Not only is it the month of Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm's convention where the company likes to show off previews for upcoming projects to fans, but also Disney+ is expected to be previewed to investors at Disney's Investor day on April 11th (same week as Celebration).

Don't expect too much to be shown at these events, however.  Disney+ is not set to launch until Fall 2019 (The Mandalorian will be a part of their launch content), and the show is still in production now so what they can have ready and what they will be ready to show will probably be pretty limited.  Regardless, a first-look at anything Star Wars, let alone the first live action TV show, is always exciting.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) in the titular role, alongside Gina Carano (Deadpool), Nick Nolte (Affliction), Carl Weathers (Predator), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), and Omid Abtahi (American Gods). The series' first season is written by executive producer Jon Favreau and will debut on Disney+ when it launches later this year.
