Today at New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm publishing hosted a panel to update fans on what's available and what's to come in the world of Star Wars publishing.  Creative director of Lucasfilm publishing Michael Siglain led a panel where a new novel and a new comic book series was revealed, as well as announcing the end of a popular series and unveiling the cover of a highly anticipated novel.  This article will be focusing on the announcements made during the panel, for those interested, you can read complete, blow-by-blow recap of the panel here.

Comics
First, it was announced that the popular, ongoing Star Wars: Darth Vader comic book series by Charles Soule will be ending with issue #25, which will conclude the "Fortress Vader" arc.  The series is currently telling the story of how Vader got his castle, seen in Rogue One and Vader Immortal.  Issue 25 hits store shelves on December 19, 2018.

Fortunately for fans of the Dark Lord, it was also announced today that Marvel has plans for a new mini-series called Shadow of Vader.  The series will be written by Star Wars Aftermath trilogy author Chuck Wendig.  The series is five issues long, and each issue will feature a different character, from across the entire timeline, whose life was impacted by Darth Vader.  Wendig, who was on the panel, revealed that the second issue will feature Willrow Hood (ice cream man from The Empire Strikes Back) and issue four will feature the Acolytes of the Beyond (a group that Wendig first introduced in the Aftermath trilogy).  The cover for the first two issues was revealed, which you can see below,

Novels
Siglain also announced today that author Alexander Freed (Battlefront: Twilight Company) will be returning to the Star Wars galaxy with Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron, a new novel from Del Rey publishing in 2019.  The novel is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and will follow five rebel pilots as they hunt down a surviving Imperial task Force.  As Siglain put it during the panel, "what happens when the hunted becomes the hunter".  A temporary cover was unveiled at the panel, which you can see below,

Also revealed at the panel, the final cover for Star Wars: Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray.  The book, which will be released in April 2019, is set prior to the event of The Phantom Menace and stars Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn.  The cover was designed by Alice X Zheng, which you can see below,
