'Alphabet Squadron', 'Shadow of Vader', and More Revealed at NYCC 'Star Wars' Publishing Panel

Today at New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm publishing hosted a panel to update fans on what's available and what's to come in the world of Star Wars publishing.  Creative director of Lucasfilm publishing Michael Siglain led a panel where a new novel and a new comic book series was revealed, as well as announcing the end of a popular series and unveiling the cover of a highly anticipated novel.  This article will be focusing on the announcements made during the panel, for those interested, you can read complete, blow-by-blow recap of the panel here.

'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Tie-In Books and Comics Announced!

Lucasfilm publishing announced the full slate of tie-in books and comics for Solo: A Star Wars Story today in a feature by Entertainment Weekly's Anthony Breznican.  Among the announcements are the adult novel titled Star Wars: Last Shot  by Daniel Jose Older (Shadowshaper, Half-Resurection Blues) about Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, the YA novel Star Wars: Most Wanted by Rae Carson (The Girl of Fire and Thorns) about Han and Qi'ra, and the comic book series Lando: Double or Nothing by Rodney Barnes.  In addition, The Art of Solo by Phil Szostak and Solo: The Official Guide by Pablo Hidalgo were also announced.

Watch The Lucasfilm Publishing Panels From New York Comic Con

Last weekend during New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm publishing hosted two major panels about the recent and upcoming releases of Star Wars books and now Penguin Random House has uploaded high quality versions of the panels to YouTube so that everyone can watch them.  The first panel, held on Friday, featured twelve authors who have written Star Wars books talking about their history with Star Wars and making announcements about what's to come.  The second panel, held on Saturday, features 19 of the 43 authors who contributed to the From A Certain Point Of View collection of short stories.  You can check out both panels below,

NYCC Lucasfilm Publishing Panel Recap

Earlier today at New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm hosted a special panel focused on their upcoming books and comics.  The panel was moderated by Michael Siglain, the creative director of Lucasfilm publishing, and featured eleven authors who had written Star Wars books and comics.  The authors discussed their history with Star Wars and shared some behind the scenes stories about working on Star Wars.  Below are my tweets from the panel.

Lucasfilm Offers New Insight Into 'The Last Jedi' Tie-In Books

In the lead up to a new Star Wars film, part of the fun is to read the tie-in books and comics in search of clues about the new film and The Last Jedi will be no different.  Today, Lucasfilm and Disney executives spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the Journey to The Last Jedi publishing wave coming later this year.  The focus is mainly on the two Young Adult novels, The Legend of Luke Skywalker by Ken Liu and Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray (Lost Stars, Bloodline), as well as the adult novel Star Wars: Phasma by Deliah S. Dawson.

Video: "Star Wars Presents: A Writers Roundtable Panel | New York Comic Con 2016"

This past weekend at New York Comic Con, a group of Star Wars authors gathered for a very special panel discussion about writing for a galaxy far, far away.  The panel included Timothy Zahn (Heir to the Empire, Star Wars: Thrawn), Chuck Wendig (Aftermath, Aftermath: Life Debt), Charles Soule (Marvel's Poe Dameron), James Luceno (Star Wars: Tarkin, Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel) E. K. Johnston (Star Wars: Ahsoka), and Kieron Gillen (Marvel's Darth Vader, Star Wars: Classified).  It was moderated by Lucasfilm's senior editor Jennifer Heddle and featured announcements from creative director of Lucasfilm publishing Michael Siglain.  Check out the video below,
