As Rogue One: A Star Wars Story begins to wrap up it's theatrical run, we've been getting a ton of new behind the scenes material from the film. Two new videos popped up online recently which gives us intriguing sneak peeks into the production, specifically the creation of various ships and aliens.
First off, The Star Wars Show recently introduced a new segment called "Rogue Reports", which goes behind the scenes of the film with the Lucasfilm Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo. Yesterday a brand new episode of The Star Wars Show was released, and included was a Rogue Report featuring creature effects supervisor Neal Scanlan describing the process of bringing to life some of Rogue One's aliens, including Moroff, Pao, Bistan and more. Pablo also speaks to legendary puppeteer Tim Rose about his role as one of Admiral Raddus' Mon Calamari aides in the film. You can check out the video below (Rogue Report begins at the 2:10 mark):
Secondly, ABC News' Clayton Sandell revealed a brand new behind the scenes video focused on recreating some of the classic ships of the Original Trilogy in Rogue One. The footage includes interviews with some of the artists behind the film who dug deep into Star Wars history to make Rogue One's battleships and Starfighters as authentic as possible. They explain how model makers for the original films used model kits for Ferraris and Tanks to add details to ships such as Star Destroyers and the Millennium Falcon.
