This past week has been an extraordinary success for the world of trailers, particularly on the Twittersphere.
The buzz on Twitter was ever present, as
new trailers were released for the DC Comics mammoth villain-centric movie, Suicide Squad and the magical return of
the beloved Harry Potter Franchise, with J.K. Rowling’s new film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
In amongst all that, it was the new Rogue
One trailer which has got film fans giddy. Measured on Retweets, likes and other
measures of interaction, the trailer ranked at No. 2 of the year on Twitter,
falling just short of Captain America: Civil War (which had a month head start
as well).
However, for this week alone Star Wars has
managed to knock it out of the park, as it eclipsed the Harry Potter prequel
and much anticipated DC villains’ movie, by claiming the No. 1 spot for Twitter
retweets, likes and other forms of interaction.
Disney and Lucasfilm will be overjoyed by
this response, but perhaps this shouldn’t be so shocking. After all, The Force Awakens third trailer managed
to receive over 100 million views in the space of 24 hours and marked a new
record for the most views of a trailer in 24 hours. It seems Rogue One is stepping up to the mark.
