Today we have been getting a massive amount of The Force Awakens news from Entertainment Weekly who have revealed that their newest issue will focus on the highly anticipated film. This morning the unveiled four exclusive covers for the magazine, and later released a collection of photos from The Force Awakens and an interview with Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford. Now EW has just released a brand new interview with director J.J. Abrams and Carrie Fisher where the discuss the actress' return Star Wars and revealed her new title.

First off, Abrams explains that 30 years after the Battle Of Endor Leia is no longer a "Princess" anymore and has taken on a militaristic title:

“She’s referred to as General. But … there’s a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her ‘Princess.’”

I think we can guess who flubs it. Furthermore, J.J. discusses Leia's role in The Force Awakens and what it was like to have Carrie and Harrison Ford back together on screen:

“The stakes are pretty high in the story for her, so there’s not much goofing around where Leia’s concerned, But it felt historic to have her, especially with Harrison, back in scenes together. I can only imagine the baggage that they bring to it, I’m just a fan who loves this stuff, but they’ve been living with it — and living in it — since ’77.”

And about Carrie specifically, he said:

“She is crazy brilliant. She’s actually, she reminds me more than anyone I’ve met of Mike Nichols, which is why, I think, when they did Postcards from the Edge, they got along so famously. It’s an amazing thing, her sort of free-associative mind, her ability to find humor in anything — she’s like a divining rod for wordplay. She’s incredible.”

And finally, Fisher herself says that Leia is "Not easily" handling her job as one of the leaders of the Resistance. She describes Leia as:

“Solitary. Under a lot of pressure. Committed as ever to her cause, but I would imagine feeling somewhat defeated, tired, and pissed.”

Be sure to head over to Entertainment Weekly to read the full interview now!
