Rinzler: Boba Fett Survived The Sarlaac, According To George Lucas

Boba Fett lives!!

Now, I know what you're think; we knew this already, right? And you would be correct, but only partially

Yes, the Expanded Universe long ago established that Boba Fett had indeed survived being eaten by the Sarlaac in Return Of The Jedi. But now that all previous books & comics have been deemed to be part of the Legends universe, and thus non-canon, it was believed that Boba Fett's original fate may be definitive. But now it seems that may not yet be the case.

Author Jonathan Rinzler, the man behind the awesome making of series of books, participated in a Reddit AMA(ask me anything) today and had some very interesting things to say about the masked Bounty Hunter. Reddit user blackbetha asked:

"Jonathan, In your mind, does Boba Fett Escape the Sarlacc Pit?"

In which he responded:

"Yes, he does. I have been in meetings with George where he confirms that Fett survived. If it comes from George then it’s true!"

So there you have it, even the Maker himself believed Boba Fett lived on. But now the big question is; does this mean we'll see more of Boba Fett after Return Of The Jedi? Obviously, George Lucas is now retired and the Lucasfilm story group has basically replaced him as the keeper of continuity for the Star Wars Saga going forward. Will the story group build on George's ideas and give Boba a cameo in the Sequel Trilogy? Anything is possible, I suppose, but let's not jump to conclusions just yet. With George Lucas out of the picture now, at least for the most part, Boba Fett may continue to be a Sarlaac snack  for a while. But with the rumored Boba Fett stand-alone film presumably coming soon, you never know what surprises may be in store for us.

Fett is over rated. I say don't worry with a stand alone film about him. if your going to do a stand alone film do it about Yoda or even Qui-gon jin. Liam Nielson back in Jedi robes would rock!

If there's money to be made from it, of course it's true.

what a load of bollocks

ok even if he survived he wuld be older than luke, probably same age as han, so an old guy ina suit? probably not, unless he escaped badly injured and returned to kamino to have another clone created before his iminent death. MAYBE. lol

posted on the wookieepedia years ago:
"Though no one in recorded history had ever escaped from the Sarlacc, Fett was able to escape, though not unscathed. Thanks to his iron will and Mandalorian armor, he was able to fight his way out of the beast's belly. Back in action, he resumed his work as a bounty hunter."

Old guy in a suit? What are you talking about? ^^ It will take place just after Return of the Jedi, when he was only in his 30's.

Alexander it doesn't take place right after ROTJ. it's thirty years later.

@Alexander Alm Where are you getting that Episode VII takes place "just after Return of the Jedi"?

they would just have fett leave the pit shortly after he went in, he would then wait for everything to settle at jabba's and then grab is ship and resume what he loved doing. They wouldn't place him in the pit for thirty years and then join the new movie like, hey guys whats up

@Alexander Alm

You do realize that Star Wars Episode VII will take place about 30-60 years after the events of VI?

I believe he is referring to the stand alone film for Bobba would take place right after ROTJ

Truly, a real fan would have jumped on this 5+ years ago instead of just now writing an article about. XD Boba Fett is Mandalorian, and even furthered himself to become Mandalore. He fought against the Yuuzhan Vong and was a role in stopping Han and Leia's son, Darth Cadeus.

Whomever wrote this article just took George Lucas' word and chose to talk I am madly in love with Jar Jar Binks... dont tell anyone but I have an engagement ring in my dresser instead of actually trying to do any research by reading the books and comics. Lucas is right in this scenario, and Disney is trying to undo the StarWars Canon because they're trying to establish a franchise in a cluttered storyline.

Furthermore, Boba Fett is only about 10 years older than Luke. If Disney follows the Star Wars storyline, then it should be landing on the book series of Legacy of the Force, which lands after the Yuuzhan Vong war. The whole series is worth a read, but I am posting the link so you can all see Boba Fett is alive.

Haven't you read the comics?! This is old news!

Well if they are doing a movie and using Temuera Morrison, his current age would be still allow him to play Fett in that era (at a pinch), literally pulling himself out of the Sarlacc. He's been looking after himself and looks good to go! Would love to see him play the clones again as well.

Disney ruined a lot of stuff.
