At this year's D23 Expo Disney truly made our dreams come true by announcing their biggest theme park expansion ever, a project tentatively titled by fans as "Star Wars Land". A 14 acre in both Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida will be transformed into a immersive world that transports visitors to a Galaxy far, far away. While we can assume the expansion is still a few years away from being a reality, we just learned that work on the project will be beginning very soon.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Disney COO Tom Staggs has confirmed that construction on both Star Wars Lands will begin next year. Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2015 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference in Beverly Hills, California, Staggs spoke about the expansions, among others things, and reiterated the fact that this addition will feature a ride that puts you in the pilot seat of the Millennium Falcon, along with a fully functioning Cantina to further the realism of the experience.

He also commented on the upcoming Star Wars films, saying that they will have a wide appeal among among fans and those uninitiated, adding that he believes that it is something China in particular will "embrace in a big way."

No exact dates have revealed concerning when the expansion will open to visitors. Be sure to keep it here on StarWarsUnderworld.com for further updates on Star Wars Land.
