Disney CEO Says Theme Parks to Feature Attractions From 'The Force Awakens'

Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke at a recent breakfast event hosted by Variety and discussed what Star Wars attractions we will be seeing in the not too distant future at the Disney theme parks.  Iger spoke about how initially the plan was to incorporate elements from the existing Star Wars films into the parks first, but that was put on hold when it was decided that they wanted to feature material from the new movies first.  "I didn’t want someone to say, ‘I just saw the movie and there’s nothing in that movie in this (attraction),” Iger said. “We waited to see what this film would have in it."

He elaborated about how the project was put on hold until they had a better sense of what was coming from Lucasfilm before getting the ball rolling again.  "We couldn’t tell them what was new," Iger said, "I slowed it all down so what we come forward with will have a blend of the past, present and maybe the future.  Now we have a sense of what’s in ‘Star Wars 8,’ and what some of the standalone films will have in them."

Sounds like the imagineers (theme park designers) are hard at work now the new attractions.  I love the idea that they may sneak a few easter eggs from future films (as Iger hinted) into the attractioin, much like they're doing at the Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios, where if you look closely you can see some material related to their spin off films that are in the works.
