According to the Bleeding Cool Podcast, the animated series Star Wars Rebels will be set eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Our friends over at MakingStarWars.net report:
Bleeding Cool’s Podcast (about 16 minutes in) with Brendon and Jason broke some Star Wars Rebels news. The duo claim Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are eight years old during the series and they’re not in it. That means Star Wars Rebels takes place eight years after Revenge of the Sith or twelve years before A New Hope. If accurate that’s the real gem of the podcast’s news.
While this far from confirmation, Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo teased that confirmation of the time period may come during next month's New York Comic panel. Hidalgo took to Twitter and replied to JediNews' Justin Lasalata, who tweeted about the report. Here's what Hidalgo had to say:
@JustinL81 Let's put a pin in this, and bring it up again after the NYCC panel. ;)

Eight years after Revenge of the Sith would be the perfect time period for the series to take place. It's long enough after 'Sith' to ensure that the Empire has ensured control and looks more like what we see in A New Hope rather than the Republic of the prequels. It also leaves enough time before A New Hope for the series to have a long run (one of the issues some fans had with The Clone Wars, was that the war itself is only suppose to be 3 years long).
As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed (or denied) by Lucasfilm or Disney.
