Dave Filoni To Screen 'Star Wars Rebels' Season 3 Premiere At Celebration Europe (UPDATED!)

By: Benjamin Hart

The guest list for Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 is continuing to grow! Today, StarWars.com
announced that none other than Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni will be in attendance, and he won't be alone. He will be joined by "special guests" who will be on hand to present a screening of the first two episodes of season three. As always, Filoni will no doubt be making the rounds at this Celebration to discuss Rebels and his previous work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars at various panels and events.

Earlier this year Filoni also teased a major Rebels reveal at Celebration Europe that fans have been waiting for. What he could be announcing is anyone's guess, but it's certainly exciting!

UPDATE: Filoni teased an announcement he would be making at Celebration on social media following the announcement.  Filoni posted the following picture with Ahsoka Tano's line from "Twilight of the Apprentice", the Season Two finale of Star Wars Rebels "There's always a bit of truth in legends".  For those wondering, the book in question is Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire (makes you wonder if he'll be confirming a certain rumor....)

Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 takes place July 15th, - 17th at the ExCeL London Exhibition Centre in London, England.

Report: 'Star Wars Rebels' Seasons 1 & 2 Soundtrack On The Way

By: Benjamin Hart

While there's a lot to enjoy visually in Star Wars Rebels, there's also plenty to hear. Composer Kevin Kiner has done a stellar job with the music of Rebels, paying homage to the classic themes of John Williams while introducing brand new scores for the show. Now it appears that the Rebels tunes will soon be available to enjoy on their own in soundtrack form. Wondercon is happening now in Los Angeles and Amy Ratcliffe tweeted on Friday that Kiner confirmed the soundtrack is coming on a panel:

Kevin Kiner also composed the music for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and for years fans lobbied for a soundtrack to be released, and it ultimately came after the series ended. It's awesome to see Lucasfilm is now ahead of the game with this soundtrack. Of course, we will provide updates on this story in the future as release dates and such are revealed. In the meantime, if you would like to enjoy to some Rebels music right now, Kiner previously made a collection of tracks available to listen on his website.

Rumor: 'Star Wars Rebels' Season Two To Have Hour-Long Finale

By: Benjamin Hart

Apparently the second season of Star Wars Rebels will be going out with a bang in just a few weeks. Jedi-Bibliothek has reportedly uncovered info and titles for the last few episodes of the season. Not only does it look like we will finally be seeing the fateful meeting between Darth Vader and Ahsoka, but the final episode appears to be an hour-long double episode. Here's what they revealed:

  • 2 × 18 "Shroud of Darkness" (roughly: "Veil of Darkness") - USA: March 2, 2016
  • 2 × 19 "The Forgotten Droid" (roughly: "The forgotten droid" - USA: March 16, 2016
  • 2 × 20 "The Mystery of Chopper Base" (roughly: "The secret of the chopper base") - USA: March 23, 2016
  • 2 × 21 "Twilight of the Apprentice: Part I" (roughly: "Twilight of the student: Part I" - or "the student") - USA: March 30, 2016
  • 2 × 22 "Twilight of the Apprentice: Part II" (roughly: Twilight of the student: Part II ") - USA: March 30, 2016

Although the "Twilight of the Apprentice" episodes feature part I and Part II subtitles, it's more than likely that the episodes will be edited together to form an hour-long episode similar to the previous season premiere episodes "Spark Of Rebellion" and "Siege Of Lothal". Regardless, it looks as though we'll be getting an hour's worth of Rebels action to close out this season. Also, "The Mystery of Chopper Base" sounds very intriguing. Last year it was revealed that one episode in season two will focus on Chopper and how Hera found him. This very well could be that episode and I can't wait to see it.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney. Take this info with a grain of salt for the time being.

Two New 'Star Wars Rebels' Season Two Clips Revealed

By: Benjamin Hart

Tomorrow season two of the hit animated series Star Wars Rebels kicks off with the brand new episode "The Lost Commanders" which features the return of three beloved Clones from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Today we have been treated to, not one, but two clips from the episode. The first comes from IGN and shows Kanan, Ezra, Zeb and Sabine meeting the Clones, and ends in a tense standoff. In the second clip, which comes from ComicBook.com, the confrontation is diffused with the mention of a mutual friend. Check them both out below:

Interestingly, Rex mentions that he fought alongside Ahsoka "from the battle of Christophsis to the siege Of Mandalore". The siege of Mandalore is an event that we have actually yet to see. That story was originally set to be told in an episode arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but the series ended before those episodes could be finished. Dave Filoni subsequently revealed concept art from those episodes which gave us a brief glimpse at what they had in store. Perhaps Rebels will finally fill us in on what that story entailed.

"The Lost Commanders" premieres tomorrow(Wednesday) at 9:30pm ET/PT on Disney XD!

Star Wars Rebels Magazine Reveals New Inquisitors

By: Benjamin Hart

Now that we've all seen "The Siege Of Lothal" a dozen or more times, it's time to start looking ahead season two of Star Wars Rebels. At the end of that episode the Emperor himself ordered Darth Vader to dispatch another Imperial Inquisitor to deal with the Rebels, and as we saw in the season two trailer, we'll be getting at least two never before seen Inquisitors in the upcoming season. The identities of these characters have been shrouded in darkness(and helmets), but some new photos that have surfaced may give us a better idea of who are heroes are up against. The Star Wars Rebels Magazine, which was released in the U.K. today, revealed some new photos of various characters, including both Inquisitors. Of course, potentially major SPOILERS follow, so continue reading at your own risk.

The first comes from our friend Evan G. on Twitter who pointed us to this photo shared by The Wolfpack Podcast of the male Inquisitor to us:

Also, courtesy of Rebel Transmission, we get our first look at the unmasked female Inquisitor:

And here's a closer look at their faces:

Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will no doubt draw a connection from the Inquisitor on the right to Barriss Offee. The last time we saw Barriss was in season five of The Clone Wars where she was revealed to have framed Ahsoka Tano for the bombing of the Jedi Temple. She was subsequently arrested, and her story has been left open ended thus far. Now that Ahsoka herself has made the jump from Clone Wars to Rebels, this has led many fans to speculate that Barriss has now done the same. And there's no denying they do look strikingly similar. Just compare the photo above with this one of Barriss in The Clone Wars:

Of course, this is all speculation at the moment. We do indeed look forward to seeing this Inquisitor's identity revealed officially when season two of Star Wars Rebels begins airing on Disney XD this Fall!

Dave Filoni Discusses Sabine's New Look In Star Wars Rebels: Season Two

By: Benjamin Hart

Last week the hour long TV event Star Wars Rebels: The Siege Of Lothal was revealed, officially setting up what we will see when the season two of the series begins airing this Fall. A lot happened in the episode that deeply effected our heroes, both emotionally and physically. Through previews from future episodes we've learned that the Ghost's resident art loving Mandalorian Sabine Wren will be getting an updated look in the second season. If you saw The Siege Of Lothal(SPOILERS ahead if you haven't) you may recall that Sabine fired her blasters at Darth Vader as the crew tried to escape. Vader easily blocked her laser blasts back at her, scarring her helmet and armor.

Her encounter with Vader will ultimately inspire Sabine to change her look, trading in her purple & orange hairdo for a cool neon blue and repainting some pieces of armor, as well as adding some new gear to her wardrobe, most noticeably a new utility belt. Executive producer and series co-creator Dave Filoni recently went on record with MTV to discuss Sabine's new style choices:

“I don’t believe that people in general that dye their hair ever really stick for it that long,” Filoni told MTV News over the phone last week, noting all of his friends who sport unusual hair colors — including his wife — like to play around with different shades. “I think it’s part of their creative impulse and they’re always experimenting and saying, ’What about this?’… As an artist, Sabine would scribble on her armor and change the color of her armor. She would never really settle on this one thing and just be done with it. Most people I know who draw are constantly doodling and changing things.”

Additionally, Filoni explains all of the characters in the series will be effected by their experience with Vader, but some changes may not be so obvious. "Some of them go through more of an emotional change, where they act differently, behave differently," he adds.

Dave also talked about his relationship with the fan community and how his desire to make changes to characters ultimately effects cosplayers:

“The Clone Troopers used to get on me all the time, because I used to change up their armor, and I mean those poor guys spent a lot of time and a lot of money to make those things, to make them accurate,” Filoni said. “And then they don’t have the latest, newest [version]. You know, so I often think I’m doing everybody a favor and then I see them and they’re all, ’Why Dave, why?'”

Be sure to head over to MTV to read the entire interview there!
