Hasbro Reveals New Black Series and Vintage Collection Figures At NYCC

With Triple Force Friday having come and gone, Hasbro representatives took the stage this afternoon at New York Comic Con to give a fans a peak at what's coming up next for the toy maker.  Several reveals were made at the panel, with the focus being on the 3.75" scale Vintage Collection and 6" Black Series.  All figures revealed will be available later this year, and will be available for pre-order from the various retailers on Monday.

NYCC 2019: 'Vader Immortal' Panel Recap

New York Comic Con kicked off today in the big apple, and ILMxLAB helped get things going with a panel previewing Episodes 2 & 3 or Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series.  The panel was moderated by Indie Wire's Christian Blauvelt, and featured Vader Immortal director Ben Snow and Lucasfilm Story Group member Matt Martin.  Over the course of the hour long discussion, Snow and Martin gave fans an overview of what Vader Immortal is all about, the challenges faced when creating immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences, and teased what's to come in the third and final chapter.

New York Comic Con Hasbro 'Star Wars' Panel Recap

Today at New York Comic Con, members of the Hasbro Star Wars team took the stage to update fans on what's going on with their various lines and make a couple of reveals about what's still to come.  Hasbro had already made several announcements on Thursday, when they revealed the first Star Wars Resistance figures, as well as a couple of new Black Series and Black Series Archive figures.  During the panel, they recapped those previous announcements, gave an update on the HasLab Jabba's Sail Barge vehicle, made some announcements, and did some Q&A.  I was in the audience and live tweeted the panel, you can read those tweets and re-live the panel below,

Hasbro Reveals New Black Series, Black Series Archive, and 'Star Wars Resistance' Figures

As New York Comic Con kicked off today, Hasbro took the opportunity to reveal several new additions to its current lines of action figures, as well as a brand new line based on the upcoming animated series Star Wars Resistance.  The Toy Company shared with the press first looks at new figures in the 6" Black Series and Black Series Archives lines, while also debuting the first wave of Resistance  figures over on Cnet.  You can check out the reveals below.

Watch The Lucasfilm Publishing Panels From New York Comic Con

Last weekend during New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm publishing hosted two major panels about the recent and upcoming releases of Star Wars books and now Penguin Random House has uploaded high quality versions of the panels to YouTube so that everyone can watch them.  The first panel, held on Friday, featured twelve authors who have written Star Wars books talking about their history with Star Wars and making announcements about what's to come.  The second panel, held on Saturday, features 19 of the 43 authors who contributed to the From A Certain Point Of View collection of short stories.  You can check out both panels below,

NYCC: "From A Certain Point Of View" Panel Recap

Today at New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm and Del Rey publishing hosted a special panel all about the recently released short story collection, Star Wars: From A Certain Point Of View.  The books was released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of A New Hope in 1977 and features 40 short stories, by 40 authors, each from the point of view of a different secondary or background character. The panel was moderated by Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group, who also wrote a story for the book, and featured 19 other authors who wrote stories for the book.

Timothy Zahn Announces 'Thrawn: Alliances' at NYCC

Lucasfilm publishing and author Timothy Zahn announced a sequel novel to Zahn's novel Star Wars: Thrawn, which was released earlier this year, to an excited crowd at New York Comic Con today.  The sequel is titled Star Wars--Thrawn: Alliances and will hit shelves in the summer of 2018.  Alliances will also feature Darth Vader in a primary role.  No cover art or specific release date were available at this time.

Report From 'The Last Jedi' Booth at NYCC

One of the can't miss attractions at New York Comic Con for Star Wars is the The Last Jedi booth on the convention.  While there will be no The Last Jedi panel during the con, the booth does give fans a sneak peak at some of the costumes, props, and models that we will be seeing up on the big screen this December.  While there aren't any major reveals (the focus is mainly on things that have already been revealed in the marketing), the booth is a fun way to get a good look at some new Star Wars items.  Check out the Instagram galleries below to get a peak inside the booth!

Felicity Jones to Appear at New York Comic Con

ReedPOP, the organizers behind the annual New York Comic Con event taking place this October 5th-8th at the Javits Center in Manhattan, announced today that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Felicity Jones will appearing at this year's event.  Jones portrayed the Rebel operative Jyn Erso, who stole the plans to the first Death Star and transmitted them to Princess Leia in the film, and will be appearing on Friday only at NYCC to sign autographs for fans.

Mark Hamill to Appear at New York Comic Con

It was announced today that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill would be appearing at New York Comic Con this October 5th-8th.  The actor is slated to sign autographs at the event.  The official NYCC Twitter account announced the news by tweeting, "(Mark Hamill) is coming to #NYCC & it’s his final autographing convention appearance in the US…like ever. You don’t want to miss this".  The use of the words "like ever" led some to speculate that Hamill would be retiring from conventions, however Hamill took to Twitter to clarify that this was only his last convention of the year and that he would be back on the con circuit in 2018.

This past weekend at New York Comic Con, a group of Star Wars authors gathered for a very special panel discussion about writing for a galaxy far, far away.  The panel included Timothy Zahn (Heir to the Empire, Star Wars: Thrawn), Chuck Wendig (Aftermath, Aftermath: Life Debt), Charles Soule (Marvel's Poe Dameron), James Luceno (Star Wars: Tarkin, Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel) E. K. Johnston (Star Wars: Ahsoka), and Kieron Gillen (Marvel's Darth Vader, Star Wars: Classified).  It was moderated by Lucasfilm's senior editor Jennifer Heddle and featured announcements from creative director of Lucasfilm publishing Michael Siglain.  Check out the video below,
