John Boyega Admits It Was His 'The Rise Of Skywalker' Script That Wound Up On eBay

Earlier this week, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director JJ Abrams made an appearance on Good Morning America, where he revealed that a copy of the film's script wound up on eBay.  Abrams revealed that one of the film's stars had left their script under their bed only to have found by someone who was cleaning their house, who then gave it to someone else who tried to sell it.  Luckily Disney was able to catch wind of the listing, and get it taken down (and the script returned).

Abrams refused to call out the actor who's script it was, and later in the week Daisy Ridley also appeared on GMA and denied it was her.  "Apparently people assume it was me," the Rey actress said. "Now I'm not going to throw the person under the bus who it is but there is someone else potentially coming on the show this week who could answer who the question as to who that was.  But it wasn't me."

And today that person stopped by the GMA.  Finn actor, John Boyega was interviewed by Michael Strahan and admitted it was his script that made it's way on to eBay. "Alright guys, it was me," Boyega said during the interview.  He went on to explain that he was getting ready to move out of his apartment and that he left the script under the bed.

"Then my boys came over and, you know, we started partying a little bit," he explained. "And the script just stayed there.  Then, a few weeks after, this cleaner came in, finds this script, and puts it on eBay for like 65 pounds.  So the person didn't know the true value!"

You can watch Boyega admit it was his script in the video below,

You can also see Ridley deny it was her in the video below,

So that's the full story of the missing script.  It might not be quite the same level of whodunit as The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson wrote for his new film Knives Out, but for those involved it was probably very stressful.  So much goes into protecting the secrets of Star Wars stories, especially the films, so the fact that we came so close to the full script leaking (and for such a low, low price) is incredible.  And also kinda hilarious.  Luckily for all involved, the script was returned and the cast and crew now have a fun anecdote to tell on talk shows while promoting the film.

If you haven't seen the final for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker yet (or want to watch it again), you can do so below,
