It's been a milestone week for two Star Wars productions. First, we learned that principle photography on Star Wars Episode IX had been completed. Shortly thereafter, we also learned that production on The Mandalorian, the first live action Star Wars series coming to Disney+ later this year, had also wrapped. Unlike Episode IX, there was no big announcement post from executive producer Jon Favreau or any of the official Star Wars social accounts. Fortunately, several other members of the crew took to social media to share the news.

The first season, which will be available when Disney+ launches in the Fall, is expected to consist of eight episodes. The episodes are written by executive producer Jon Favreau and directed by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul), and Rick Famuyiwa (Dope). The series is executive produced by Favreau and Filoni, as well as Colin Wilson and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
