Last week saw the end of principal photography for the third and final part of the Sequel Trilogy, Star Wars: Episode IX. Director and co-writer J.J. Abrams announced the news by tweeting an emotion-heavy photo of Daisy Ridley(Rey), John Boyega(Finn), and Oscar Isaac(Poe) on set in Jordan.
More recently Entertainment Tonight's Ash Crossan caught up with Abrams at a recent charity event which he attended alongside his wife, Katie McGrath. Crossan peppered the director with questions about Episode IX, and while he was fairly tight-lipped(as usual) he did drop a few interesting tidbits about the film.
Concerning the end of filming and the photo he shared, J.J. said:
"It was actually a pretty emotional thing, but the cast and crew just did an unbelievable job. And I just cannot wait for you to see what we got going for you."
Crossan also asked if Episode IX was affected by the backlash to its predecessor, The Last Jedi:
"No, I think that every movie is its own movie, and obviously this is a trilogy. We brought to that movie all the passion and hard work that we would have no matter what. So I think the story speaks for itself."
And about working with the legendary Billy Dee Williams to bring Lando Calrisian back he said:
"I met him once before and he was such a sweet guy. But I've gotta tell you, I have such unbelievable respect for him. We had a great time and he was wonderful. He just had this aura around him. He's really an incredible man and an incredible actor."
Abrams also finished the interview saying that he hopes fans feel "satisfied" by Episode IX. And upon being pressed to give a hint about when the film's title will be revealed, he provided a straight "No."
