ABC To Provide Sneak Peek At 'Galaxy's Edge' On Christmas Day

Let's face it; not having a new Star Wars film in theaters this Christmas sucks. While the next holiday season will bring back the "Star Wars Christmas" tradition with the release of Star Wars: Episode IX, we've still got year-long wait until the saga returns to theaters. Thankfully we've got many, many things to look forward to in the meantime.

Just recently our friends at Making Star Wars received word about a potential Star Wars preview happening Christmas day on television. While our thoughts naturally drifted the prospect of an Episode IX trailer, as it turns out, the preview will focus on Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

ABC has now released a TV spot promoting their upcoming Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade that will air Christmas morning on the network. Among the advertised features is an "exclusive sneak peak" at Galaxy's Edge. The 14-acre areas, which are currently under construction at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, are nearing completion and are set to open next year.

No other details were given about what might be shown. Thanks to coverage by Entertainment Weekly we were recently treated to some awesome first looks at the two major rides at Galaxy's Edge, as well as the musical score for the area, which is composed by John Williams. This Christmas preview could be further exploration of those elements, or perhaps something completely new they want to reveal. Nevertheless, it will certainly be an event Star Wars and Disney fans won't want to miss.

The Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade is set to air 10:00am ET/PT on Christmas day!

And if you want to see what Galaxy's Edge looks like right now you can check out some awesome aerial footage and photos here, courtesy of the Orange County Register.
