Everybody who follows the production of new Star Wars films knows that they are notoriously secretive. Despite this, anytime anyone involved in the production of the films is interviewed they are asked if they can reveal anything about the new films. Newcomer to the saga Richard E. Grant, who is playing an unknown role in next year's Episode IX, decided to have a little fun when asked about his role in the film by Yahoo! Entertainment while promoting his new film Can You Forgive Me? Check out the video below,
Grant started by recalling his experience of seeing the original Star Wars back in 1977, saying, "if you told me then … that four decades later I would actually be in the ninth, sort of final one of the whole arc of it, I would have said that you were either on drugs or certifiable."
When asked about his role, Grant proceeded to jokingly start mouthing nonsense and making hand gestures (as if he had been muted), then claiming he had revealed all the details about his role and the film's plot. Well played, Mr. Grant. Well played.
Star Wars Episode IX hit theaters on December 20th, 2019. The film is directed by JJ Abrams, with a script by Abrams and Chris Terio. The film stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Marie Tran, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Ackie, Anthony Daniels, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, and Carrie Fisher.
