While watching any new Star Wars film it's always fun to try and catch all of the carefully placed Easter Eggs, some of which provide some big connections to other parts of the saga. We're now a little over a week away from the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and we have just discovered a callback to the Prequel Trilogy hidden within.
On Twitter, Stitch Kingdom got their hands on a publicity cast list from Solo which breaks down the characters and actors who are portraying them in the film. Upon making the rounds, some fans pointed out that Warwick Davis, who's now had countless cameos in previous Star Wars films, is credited as playing "Weazel":

Those familiar with Episode I: The Phantom Menace may remember that Warwick Davis had two roles in that film; one as Anakin's Rodian friend Wald, and another as a Podrace patron who can be seen next to Watto in several scenes. That character's name is Weazal, which has led many to believe that Davis isn't portraying a new character, but is, in fact, reprising his character from Episode I.
In a recent Solo TV spot, we actually got a glimpse of Warwick Davis in the film:
For all of his other characters, including his first role as Wicket the Ewok in Return Of The Jedi, Warwick has always worn a mask. But for these two appearances, you can clearly see his face. Making both characters Weazel could have been the intention of the filmmakers all along, or it could simply be some manipulation by the Lucasfilm Story Group to keep from creating the plot hole of two different characters looking too much alike. Weazel's previously established backstory describes him as a weapons dealer, which seems to match his appearance in Solo, where he can be seen firing a rocket launcher. Nevertheless, if this is indeed true, it will be a really cool connection with the Prequels.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a pinch of salt until fully confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney.
Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on May 25th and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Joonas Suotamo (The Last Jedi) as Chewbacca, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Qi'Ra, Woody Harrelson (True Detective) as Beckett, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as L3-37, Thandie Newton (Westworld) as Val, and Paul Bettany (The Avengers) as Dryden Vos. The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).
