One of the many highly anticipated events at each and every Star Wars Celebration is the Celebration art show, which brings together some of the communities' most talented artists to showcase and sell their artwork. Star Wars Celebration Orlando, which kicks off in less than a month, is no different.
Funko has just revealed two new Star Wars items that collectors everywhere will surely want to get their hands on. Today they officially announced a collection of Walmart exclusives that are expected to hit shelves later this month. Among them are two Star Wars Funko Pop! three-pack sets.
Next month Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be revealed to the World, and with it comes a plethora of new characters, ships, creatures and more being introduced into the ever expanding universe. Among the new elements is the U-Wing fighter, which is a brand new starship that is part of the Rebel Alliance's fleet and will play a key role in the film.
Ever since we saw the amazing behind the scenes sizzle reel for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at Star Wars Celebration Europe, speculation has run rampant about what may be hidden in the footage. Some say they saw Tarkin, others believe they saw Ponda Boba and Dr. Evazan, and many have made the claim that Bail Organa makes an appearance. At about 1:04 in the video a character that is barely visible on the right bears a striking resemblance to Princess Leia's adoptive father. Now it appears we have confirmation that it is indeed Bail in the sizzle reel!
Jimmy Smits, who previously portrayed Bail Organa in Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith, was a recent guest on the daytime talk show The Talk. During the interview the hosts brought attention to the aforementioned character in the behind the scenes reel and probed Smits for more information. While at first he played coy, Smits responded by seemingly confirming his involvement in the film:
"Can you say the word cameo? Can you say the words small part?"

Well there you have it! Bail Organa will be making a presumably small appearance in Rogue One, but appearing nonetheless. Being that Bail is presumed to be killed during the destruction of Alderaan in A New Hope shortly after this film, it will be quite interesting to see what part he will play in the mission to steal the Death Star plans. This also goes a long way to helping bridge the gap between the Prequel and Original Trilogies.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on December 16th!
Last week we reported that the heavily rumored Star Wars theatrical movie marathon is indeed happening to coincide with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Since then Lucasfilm has backed it up with an official announcement about the marathon that revealed new details about the event.
StarWars.com confirmed that Episodes I through VI will be screened back to back in 2D and will be followed by The Force Awakens in 3D. Attendees will be given a lanyard with exclusive marathon art. They also unveiled a high quality version of the official poster for the marathon. The marathon will only be presented in select theaters across the United States and Canada on December 17th. It appears The Force Awakens won't be the Star Wars film in theaters this December. Earlier today it came to our attention that the popular movie ticket seller Fandango had updated their website and app with a listing for a "Star Wars Marathon", seemingly confirming an old rumor which stated that all seven films will be shown back to back at select theaters. That rumor specifically mentioned AMC Theaters, while the Fandango listing does not mention which theaters will feature the marathon. What is revealed is a poster for the event which confirms a launch date of December 17th, one day prior to the premiere of Episode VII. You can see the poster below, albeit in low quality:
The listing also teases "see it in digital 3D". While that line is most likely referring to The Force Awakens, which we know will be in 3D, it's also possible that The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones, both of which were recently converted to 3D, may also be shown in 3D during the marathon. ComicBook.com also adds that screening episodes I through VII, with adequate breaks in between, would take approximately 15 & a 1/2 hours, which would require the marathon to begin at 3am to match with the expected premiere time of 7pm for The Force Awakens. All of that is simply speculation at the moment.
This news follows rumors that a brand new trailer for The Force Awakens will debut on Monday on ESPN, and that tickets will also go on sale as well that day. An announcement for those events and the marathon are undoubtedly immanent.
Earlier today Marvel dropped some big Star Wars comic book news at their "Cup O' Joe" panel at New York Comic Con. Since Marvel took over the production of Star Wars comics fans have been requesting more series set in the Prequel Trilogy era. Now it looks like they're getting their wish as Marvel has announced that a new five-issue mini series titled "Obi-Wan & Anakin" is coming in January and will be set within the ten year period between The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones. Written by Charles Soule with artwork by Marco Checchetto the series will reportedly focus on the Jedi duo while they are on a post-apocalyptic planet and will also feature flashbacks to their time training at the Jedi Temple. It will show Anakin and Obi-Wan at a very early point in their relationship, not quite the friends we know them to be in later stories such as The Clone Wars, and both will be questioning their paths.
ComicBook.com revealed the cover art for Obi-Wan & Anakin, which you can see above. Also, writer Charles Soule spoke with USA Today and had this to say:
“I want people to set their preconceived notions about what an Obi-Wan and Anakin story is aside. We’ve seen a lot of them but this is something that's going to feel and look different.”
USA Today also provided a brief description of the story's basis:
"The miniseries is set three years into Anakin’s training under Obi-Wan — something he promised the dying Qui-Gon he would do — at a peacetime period where the Jedi are at the height of their power and many feel Anakin is destined to do an enormous amount of good for the universe. He and Obi-Wan are in a spaceship heading back to a diplomatic fleet when they get a distress call from a remote deserted planet. When they land, the Jedi find a mountainous place with deep valleys containing huge roiling clouds of green mist that cover the surface. “It’s a place that’s designed to have many, many secrets,” Soule says, “and it does.” While they go on their mission, it’s interspersed with flashbacks showing how the title's main stars reached a personal crisis point between them."
It's very exciting to be returning to the Prequel era and exploring such beloved characters like Anakin and Obi-Wan and the beginning of a friendship that would shape the fate of the Galaxy. The period of time between Episodes I and II has yet be explored in Star Wars canon, so it will very interesting to finally have some elaboration on that decade in Star Wars history.
With Episode VII: The Force Awakens only mere months away from release, now is the perfect time to revisit the first six films of the Saga, or for some, view them for the very first time. Lucasfilm has just announced a new way to enjoy the Prequel and Original Trilogies with upcoming re-release that puts the films in some limited edition packaging. Beginning November 10th episodes I-VI will be available in a commemorative Blu-ray steelbooks.
Each film will be available separately in stunning new tin packaging featuring a character from each film prominently on the cover; Darth Maul for The Phantom Menace, Yoda for Attack Of The Clones, General Grievous for Revenge Of The Sith, Darth Vader for A New Hope, a Stormtrooper for The Empire Strikes Back and Emperor Palpatine for Return Of The Jedi All the films will be available in a "complete saga" set on October 13th, which features three extra discs that include 40 hours of previously released bonus features, encased in a Darth Vader tin. Each film will also include it's original audio commentary with George Lucas and others, along with commentary from archival interviews with the cast & crew. They will all be available for pre-order this Friday, August 7th. You can check out all the steelbook artwork below:
Even though it seems rather redundant to release the films on Blu-ray yet again, this is actually the first time each movie has been available individually on Blu-ray. Previously all six films together and each each trilogy were released on Blu-ray back in 2011. Now and soon-to-be fans will have the option to buy each episode on at a time if they choose.

In the last hour, reports
have circulated that the legendary British actor, Sir Christopher Lee, has
sadly passed away at the age of 93. News of his death has been released today,
but it is reported that the actor died on Sunday at Chelsea and Westminster
hospital in London due to heart and respiratory problems.
Sir
Christopher Lee has made a name for himself through his phenomenal acting
career, as he has starred in well over 250 movies. The most notable
performances in his career have encompassed villainous roles, such as Count
Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wicker Man, Scaramanga [James Bond] and Saruman
[Lord of the Rings].
In 2009, he was knighted
for his services to both drama and charity and later merited with a BAFTA fellowship
in 2011.
For Star Wars fans, Sir
Christopher Lee will always be remembered for his excellent performance as the
notorious Sith Lord, Count Dooku in the Prequels. In addition, he superbly
reprised his role as the Count in the film debut of Star Wars: The Clone Wars [2008].

to Sir Christopher Lee’s family and friends.
It was more than ten years ago that Hayden Christensen brought Anakin Skywalker to life in Episode II: Attack Of The Clones and Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith(hard to believe, isn't it?) And while many, including myself, enjoyed Hayden's performance, there are still some who remain less than impressed with the actor's portrayal of the hero, and later villain. Thanks to IGN, we know of at least one high profile fan of Hayden's work. Nicolas Cage recently spoke with the site about his new film Outcast, wherein he stars alongside Christensen. Here's what he had to say:
"George Lucas is a dear friend of my family... I watched George's movies and I saw the work that Hayden did with George and I was very impressed with Hayden's sort of edgy, dangerous, dark and still soulful performance. I thought it was superb, so I really connected with him. Plus he has a look in his eyes that I respond to... he's got the sad thing going on that I've always been accused of having in my eyes."
This is one of Hayden's first acting jobs since 2010, so it's good to see him return to the big screen, as well as get some much deserved praise for his work in the Star Wars Galaxy.
