The Lucas Museum Of Narrative Art is another step closer to becoming a reality. Since selling his company to Disney, the Maker himself, George Lucas, has been committed to finding a home for his latest passion project, and it's been a long and hard journey. After exploring possible locations in San Francisco and Chicago, the museum finally found a home in Los Angeles, and a groundbreaking ceremony earlier today made it official.
George Lucas, alongside his wife Mellody Hobson, longtime friend Steven Spielberg, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, and others, broke ground on the Lucas Museum Of Narrative Art during a ceremony on Wednesday L.A.'s Exposition Park. Lucas himself took up a shovel to celebrate the occasion and officially kick off construction on the $1.5 billion dollar project.
During the ceremony, George Lucas took the podium to tell the crowd what inspired the museum and his aspirations for what it will become:
“Yes this is an art museum, but I’m trying to position it as an anthropological museum... In my feeling popular art is an insight into a society and what they aspire to be; what they really want and what they really are — it is telling the narrative of their story, their history and their belief system.”

In accordance with the groundbreaking ceremony, new artists renderings of the facility and surrounding grounds, which were designed by Chinese architect Ma Yansong, were revealed. You can see one above and the rest below:
