'Thrawn: Alliances' Release Delayed to July 24th

The sequel to Timothy Zahn's novel Star Wars: Thrawn has been delayed by less than a month.  The novel, titled Thrawn: Alliances, is now slated for a July 24th, 2018 release date (it had previously been scheduled to be released on June 26th). The release date change was noted in publisher Penguin Random House's official online catalogue.

Thrawn: Alliances is written by Zahn and will feature the titular Grand Admiral Thrawn teaming up with the Sith lord Darth Vader for an adventure.  The official description for the novel reads,

Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader ally against a threat to the Empire in this new novel from bestselling author Timothy Zahn.
 
The sequel to New York Times bestseller Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances will continue to follow the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn to the heights of Imperial power—and accompany him into the past, witnessing his first encounter with the man who will one day become Darth Vader.

The character was first created by author Timothy Zahn back in the 1990s for the novel Star Wars: Heir to the Empire.  Though novels published prior to September 2014 have since been rendered non-canon ("Legends"), the character's popularity led to him being introduced into the new canon the third season of the animated series Star Wars Rebels (where he voiced by Lars Mikkelsen).  The first Thrawn novel told Thrawn's story leading up to the events of Rebels, focusing on his rise through the ranks of the Empire.

In the meantime, the paperback of Thrawn hit's shelves on January 30th and the first issue of Marvel's comic book adaptation of the first novel hits shelves on February 7th.

Thrawn: Alliances hits shelves on July 24th.
