Thomas Brodie-Sangster Talks About His 'The Force Awakens' Cameo

Many fans were surprised (myself included) when Thomas Brodie-Sangster appeared on screen briefly as First Order Petty Officer Thanisson in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Brodie-Sangster has had a impressive career outside of Star Wars, appearing in films like Love Actually, the Maze Runner franchise, and in the TV series Game of Thrones, so it was a bit strange to see him in such a small role. In a new interview with USA Today, Brodie-Sangster spoke about how that cameo came up.

Brodie-Sangster said,
"They said, 'It’s a bit odd. There’s a part in Star Wars, it films next week, we don’t really know much about it. But it might be a baddie and we think there's a line. Do you want to do it?' And I was like, 'Um, Yeah!  It’s Star Wars!' It’s a big childhood thing to tick off the list. Just immediately yes. Of course."

He also spoke briefly about what it was like to be on set of the First Order Star Destroyer, saying,
"It felt very sinister, walking onto that clean, sterile environment felt like a star destroyer. It was very special."

In case you missed it, you can see Brodie-Sangster's scene in The Force Awakens below,
