While Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi is the center of attention these days, with our first real look at the film just over two week away at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, work is quietly underway on its follow up.   Star Wars Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow was at CinemaCon this week and spoke briefly with MTV's Josh Horowitz about the upcoming sequel, giving us a sense of what his days are like.  Check out the interview below,

Treverrow confirmed that they do have a draft of the film that they are working from, but the focus is still on writing and designing the film out at Pinewood Studios in London.  One of the changes the filmmaker has is how to deal with the passing of Carrie Fisher, who was set to reprise her as a General Leia in Episode IX.  The challenge landed on Trevorrow's lap when Fisher died after suffering a heart attack in late December.  Disney CEO Bob Iger said recently that they would not be altering The Last Jedi, which Fisher had finished filming prior to her death, to address her passing.

Star Wars Episode IX is slated to hit theaters in 2019.
