Filming on Star Wars Episode VIII is slated to begin this month and, unfortunately for some fans, this has resulted in a couple of Star Wars actors cancelling an upcoming convention appearance. Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar) have cancelled their scheduled appearance at Pensacon in Pensacola, Florida this February 19th-21st due to filming commitments. Pensacon posted the following on their Facebook page,
Unfortunately, we have some bad news to report this morning, but we prefer to let you know as soon as we know something...

Obviously, the conclusion is that they will be on set for Episode VIII which means we can expect both Chewie and Ackbar back for the Rian Johnson directed film. While I'm sure this is disappointing for fans who are attending Pensacon, I think it's a fair price to pay to have these characters back in Episode VIII.
