They say good things come to those who wait. And while we'll be waiting until at least November 17th to play Star Wars Battlefront, we may end up waiting a bit longer if the developers see fit. Our friends at Geeks Speak pointed us to a report by MCV who spoke with EA's COO Peter Moore about just that. They sight some prior issues EA experienced with "Battlefield 4" back in 2013, and to avoid further repeating their mistakes, delayed "Battlefield: Hardline" from it's initial release on Christmas 2014 to March of this year. Moore reaffirms that the company is prepared to do the same thing with Battlefront if necessary:
“Well you can’t ship it if it doesn’t work or the quality isn’t right.... We’d have no compunction, no hesitation that if something went wrong with Battlefront, if it wasn’t right, we would just push it.”
But still Moore remains confident that it won't come to that:
“The game is playable with 40-players already, and it is rock solid, so it ain’t going to happen.”
This is very good to hear. We've waited over a decade for another Battlefront game, and adding to that wait would be brutal. But quality takes time, and I think we should be excited that EA and DICE are willing to take their time to make Battlefront as great as possible rather than trying to rush out a sub-par game.
If all goes according to plan, we'll all have a chance to play Star Wars Battlefront on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 17th!
