A fun story coming out of LA today, director Jason Reitman (Juno) announced that he'll be re-staging Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Starring in this re-staging are Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), JK Simmons (Spider Man trilogy), and Stephen Merchant (Hello Ladies). This is the latest in a series of re-staging's that Reitman has put one, with previous shows having included, The Princess Bride and Ghostbusters.
The complete cast list is,
Aaron Paul as Luke Skywalker
JK Simmons as Darth Vader
Stephen Merchant as C-3PO
Dennis Haysbert as Lando Calrissian
Kevin Pollack as Yoda
About Paul's casting, Reitman said, "My first instinct was, ‘Who is the actor most like Mark Hamill today?’
But five minutes into that, I’m thinking we already have that, we
already have Star Wars as it is. What is the opposite of that?"
I have to say this sounds amazing, and I am incredibly jealous of anyone in the LA area that gets to see this. My one hope is that they manage to work in a reference to Jesse Pinkman by having Luke say, "He told me enough, he told me you killed him BITCH!"
