Star Wars, being the cultural phenomenon it has been since 1977, always seems to get nods in other movies, TV shows & more. One of the most recent references shows up in Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The film isn't due to be officially released until April 4th but several clips have already leaked online, including the first ten minutes of the movie, courtesy of our friends at Following The Nerd. The reference shows up at 2:40 in the video. A close up of Steve Rogers' notebook reveals both Star Wars and Star Trek are on the list of things he wants to catch up on, along with others like I Love Lucy, The Moon Landing and Thai Food. Star Wars is curiously crossed out, so I guess we can assume the Captain has recently done a Star Wars marathon.
For those not familiar with the story, Steve Rogers(Captain America) is a man out of time, having come to the peak of his abilities during World War II, only to be frozen in ice for over 70 years and waking up in the modern era(Seen in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger). I'm not certain, but I believe this is the first Star Wars reference in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering that both Marvel and Lucasfilm are now owned by Disney, let's hope references like this happen more often!
