We all know that casting is currently going on for 2015's Star Wars Episode VII, but is casting going on for other Star Wars projects happening as well? Cinelinx is reporting that Disney is currently casting for Star Wars live action television projects, specifically TV Specials and miniseries!
According to Cinelix,
"While we've heard rumblings previously about a live-action show, or TV specials finally coming to fruition under Disney's banner, nothing else has really come of it. Today, however, we've heard that Disney is already holding auditions for as yet unannounced Star Wars TV specials and even a mini-series!
I know it's not often that we post information from our own sources concerning rumors and what not (though we were spot on when it came to the first Godzilla trailer), but I felt this was too good to not share with you guys. According to my source, who I can't name, Disney's casting auditions for Star Wars haven't just been limited to the upcoming film,Episode VII. Rather, they were told the people holding the auditions were casting for roles in as yet unannounced television projects including 'specials and miniseries'"
The idea of TV specials was brought up several months back when JediNews got hold of a Disney promotional brochure which stated that three "Darth Vader TV Specials" were slated for release in Spring/Summer 2014. It seems unlikely to me that a live action Star Wars special could be ready for Spring/Summer of this year, though anything is possible. There's also the possibility the projects could have been pushed back.
Also the possibility of a miniseries is intriguing. Given Marvel's (another part of Disney) recent deal the produce five miniseries for Netflix over the next few years and the success of The Clone Wars Season 6 on Netlfix, a Netflix miniseries could be real possibility. There have already been rumors about a Star Wars miniseries coming to Netflix. But there are other possibilities, ABC President Paul Lee has stated in the past that he wants a Star Wars show on ABC. A miniseries would be a great way to test the waters to see if live action Star Wars on telesvision.
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney
