In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Aspyr media has released the award winning Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) RPG from LucasArts (RIP) and Bioware for the iPad. The game costs $9.99 in the Apple App store and includes an updated interface for the touch screen format.
"Being able to bring one of the most beloved Star Wars games to
iPad for such a momentous event is an incredible honor," Elizabeth
Howard, Aspyr's vice president of publishing, told StarWars.com. "We have a long history at
Aspyr of bringing the best games to Apple platforms, and as bona fide
fans of the original release, we've worked to ensure that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for iPad lives up to its prodigious reputation."
Originally released in 2003, KOTOR is set 4000 years before the films and allows the player to choose the light side or the dark side as they play through the game. The game has been the basis for much spin off material including a sequel (Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords), action figures, a comic series of the same name and even the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Hopefully this is the first of many classic Star Wars video games released to the mobile format.
You can download KOTOR for the iPad here.
