The Battlefront III drama continues to unfold. A few days ago, Steve Ellis, the co-founder of the company that was producing the game, claimed that Battlefront III was "99% Finished" before LucasArts pulled the plug on the project.
Today a former employee of LucasArts who wished to not reveal his identity told Gamespot that this was completely untrue.
"A generous estimate would be 75 percent of a mediocre game... There are two sides to every story"
He went on to detail why he though LucasArts cancelled the project, citing that it was not for financial reasons, but rather Free Radicals inability to devote enough resources to the game and repeated failure to meet deadlines.
"The failure of Battlefront III was tragic for everyone involved, not least the fans. There's a lot of blame to go around and many different perspectives. I won't though let Steve Ellis whitewash the part that he and Free Radical played. I'd suggest that everyone keep this as something tragic to muse over with a beer rather than throwing stones in public."
Steve Ellis and Free Radical have yet to respond to this source's statement. We will keep you updated on any further developments in this story.
