With the end of the sequel trilogy in sight, the stars of The Rise of Skywalker are already being asked if they would return to Star Wars in the future. It certainly wouldn't be the first time the franchise brought back it's stars, decades after they first thought they were done with their roles. The actors who play the trio of main heroes in the current trilogy, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, simultaneously didn't commit to a return in a recent interview with Variety, they didn't rule it out either.
Ridley and Isaac were the most hesitant of the trio, with Ridley saying, "I just don’t know if anything could top this one, honestly. [...] It would have to be so extraordinary [to return], and I don’t know if that’s possible." Isaac, for his part, added, "[I’m] happy and feeling fulfilled that the task is complete. So I can’t imagine what it would be that would make me want to redo this thing or revisit it."
As Boyega, he was the most open to it, telling Variety, "As long as Daisy and Oscar are down for it, then I’ll come back."
Based on their above answers, Boyega may have to do a little convincing to get his co-stars to come back. But, then again, Mark Hamill once said something similar about only returning if Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher did too. And everyone assumed Ford would hold out, but then Ford signed on for The Force Awakens and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Finn actor did have another caveat for his return, however, telling Variety, "I ain’t getting no Disney Plus! I’m watching it, though, but I’ll stay in the feature films."
Seems Boyega doesn't want to follow in the footsteps of Ewan McGregor and Diego Luna, both of whom are returning to Star Wars for Disney+ series' about their respective characters (Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor).
