JJ Abrams Reveals The First Word Spoken In 'The Rise of Skywalker' Is "At"

JJ Abrams made an appearance on The Late Show last night, where he spoke with host Stephen Colbert about The Rise Of Skywalker.  After confirming that the movie was finished, the director revealed that the first word spoken in the film is "at" (followed by "six or seven other words).  He also spoke about how they were able to incorporate Leia in the film, despite the fact that Carrie Fisher passed away three years ago, and about also reacts to some joke "theories" about the film.

The joke of getting a Star Wars director to confirm the first word of the next Star Wars film began in 2015, when, as Colbert alluded to in the video above, Jimmy Kimmel asked Abrams for the first word.  Abrams confirmed, at the time, that the first word was "this" in The Force Awakens ("This will begin to make things right").  Then in 2017, The Last Jedi, director Rian Johnson told Kimmel that "we're" was the first word in the film ("We're not clear yet").
